| if you are wearing any kind of messenger bag, just wrap the straps around the trunk. i did it last year with no problems. just be aware of how wide you are so as not to pull a "stanglor" |

Prune off the lower branches and lash the trunk to your rear rack
Tie it to your bag
Tie it directly to your back
buy a cheap kiddie trailer at goodwill
Steal a shopping cart |

| Subaru's are awesome tree carriers. I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread either has one or access to one, 'cept derrick who has two VWs (which do not a Subaru make ... but might be about equivalent for this task). |

Do you need help fixing the flat tire on your LHT? I know some bike mechanics who live in Georgetown. |

I used to have 2 VWs, but now I have 2 Subarus, so I guess I balance out Derrick. Honestly I'd rather have one VW and one Subaru.
I think I can carry two trees in my Burley trailer. |

Stick the pruned branches into the pannier on the other side of the rack though. No reason to let useful fuel go to waste. |

You can prestage trees at my house in Eastlake if you like - I have a large practically unused back yard. Call me at 206.412.3055 and I'll open the back gate for you. It's a long straight/downhill run to WLC from there. Thursday will do the christmas tree lashing prefunk at my pad and get em loaded up.
I am going to go through the alleys and grab trees tonight so will have a count of what I have by this evening. Should be 4 or 5 at least. |

Does anyone live closer to WLC < SLU < Fremont < Ballard that could cue up some trees and has a yard waste day prior to Thursday.
Tuesday ride idea, Tree gathering, should be a gay old time. |

| I just collected 7 trees from my alley - are sitting in my yard now. I'm pretty sure the trailer i'm borrowing from Joby will only hold one or two. |

Actually, I'm in Ballard about a block from the locks, two blocks away from the sloop, and I have a big backyard. I'm not riding tonight so I'll be home if there is any interest in creating a staging point. |

Shit, that's close enough people could drop off their Westlake/Scott trees at the fire pit and run back to your place for a second helping.

What's the anticipated route to the gardens?
I live a about a block away from the Nickerson, so if we roll across that bridge I'd get it then. No sense in carting it around town.
I'm almost positive if I strap it to my back, a motorist will flick a cigarette into it, turning me into a pine scented fire bomb. |

Initially I did indicate the route with "->" but the original context was rating which neighborhood would best be located for stockpilling trees, the successor being greater that the predecessor. WLC<<Ballard |

Yeah, it sounds like however much pre-planning we want to do with this, I'm down with stockpiling in my backyard. My roommates are usually home on Thursday as well, so the group can make runs back and forth if we manage to get that many there ahead of time without needing my input on anything.
My place is here: http://tinyurl.com/yhkvn8m. Just let me know (forums/text/screaming at my house from the street) if you plan to come by so I can be sure to be home and masturbating in full view of the street from the living room window. |

But if you want to come by the house for xmas-tree prefunk Jeni, am sure we can get you squared away with one. I have 7 in my back yard right now and will continue to look for more. |

| I guess the thing is, if I know there are more people coming with will and means to carry, i will go out and forage for more trees. I just can't leave any trees back there when it's all said and done. |

Yeah Scott you seem to have found an unlikely gold strike of trees so I'd roll with it. I only spotted the one which i grabbed last night. Your location is not in the immediate route but your tree harvesting is the most productive and you've done the work for a lot of people.
Keep grabbing all you see though.
And if you aren't bringing a tree for some reason please be sure to be hauling plenty of beer - whiskey - snacks. |
