I recently learned how crappy radial wheels are and am looking to get a new set of 622x16s for my daily road bike.
Any recommendations?

Road commuter? I say get a pair of ZIPPs.
But seriously, what's the budget? I'm a fan of either Open Pro or Aksium wheels, they hold my fat ass, so they gotta be pretty tough. However, Aksiums are now sold retail with radial lacing - even rear wheels now have 2x on the drive side, and radial on the non-drive side.
I have an older Aksium rear wheel that's 2x on both sides, if you're interested in it.

32 spokes (using regular j-bend available-everywhere spokes), laced 3x, Shimano 105 or better hubs, built by someone you trust.
Or pre-built and then sold by someone you trust. (several shops offer warranties or free re-truing for wheels they sell).
Or bought used and checked over/trued by someone you trust.
Budget is less than $200 I guess? I've never bought a wheelset before so I don't even know the manufacturer's names or what price is too little and too much.
I'd be looking for a new set. I do like those ones Jimmy linked. Preferably black to match my frame.
