I'll be using my cinelli/mash bars

you'll be a dad bro, graduate from your sweet fixie residuals

get some flat/riser/swept/etc bars that take mountain grips so you can use real brakes, I've got plenty of fancy ones you can try out

these hydros are cheaper than any of the mechanical options you're looking at and work fantastically better: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-BL-M445-BR-M445-White-f'n mtb-Bike-Hydraulic-Disc-Brakeset-750-1200-NEW-/331473597723

they're trivial to work on, and pretty much never need it unlike mechanicals

(you can shorten the hoses in a few minutes without bleeding them or even special tools!)

Fair enough Freddy, time to grow up I suppose.

Tax return got my wheel built yesterday and I'll be ordering a light, Can we target the first week of April or so for a wiring party?

It turns out that if youre slightly smarter than a rock, you can hook up a dynamo light in a few easy moments. I finally got around to finding all my pieces and putting it on.

I had thought I was missing a few key things, but nope.

now i want to hooksie up a tail light as well. anyone got an extra one of those laying around that they aren't using that they want to sell? before i hit the interwebs.

Yeah, I have a brand new, never mounted B&M Seculite Plus if you want it.
Looks like I paid $30 new. Give it to you for $10 or a yummy six pack of non-IPA beers.

Only catch is that it's a fender-mounted light so if you want to mount it to your seatpost, rack or seatstay braze-on you might need to fudge a DIY bracket.

What headlight? I want to make sure I have the correct sized crimp terminals.

The light on the right in this photo:

10 works for me. as long as it's compatible

i have what looks to be the busch and muller iq fly. back of it looks like this: http://roadcyclinguk.com/wp-content/uploads/old_images/news/images/lumotec_2_lo.jpg

i'm assuming the tail lights connect onto those connectors? is there a connector to crimp it on similar to down on the hub?

yup. Finally got all my parts together and was able to wire it up pretty easilly...it only took one trip to Back Alley to learn that I had misread the wiring diagram and didn't have enough copper exposed in the connector to make the circuit complete. Nice and shiny now, generator light master-race unite!

Unfortunately B&M & Schmidt are still in the dark ages with their crimp terminals. I wish everything was as easy as the Shimano/Shutter Precision style hub connectors. Stripping wire and shoving it inside something with pressure retention is so much easier to work with.

Need to do some work like this:

These reference instructions are for a hub but applies the same for connecting the headlight to the taillight: https://janheine.wordpress.com/2012/03/26/wiring-a-light-for-a-son-generator-hub/

If you want, we can crimp the terminals to the wire at my house when you pick it up.

crimping connectors is easy enough. yeah if you have some around and we can do it real quick that would be great.

The hole spacing on reflector brackets matches up with what you want for your dynamo taillight. So if you don't want to fender mount it, there are multiple ways you can adapt a cheapie bracket and mount it elsewhere.

My favorite is to the brake bridge tucked up out of harms way 9unless you use a massive saddlebag). Also would be easy to just use half that bracket and attach to one of the nearby rack braze-ons.

Yeah, next week works fine. With my clavicle injury I've been spending lots of time at home, usually after 7pm.

What are you using to hold the front light to that rack? I own a similar light and the same rack and everything I've used to hold it to there so far has sheared in half at some point. The shitty piece of aluminium that came with the rack didn't even last the ride from Capitol Hill to Eastlake and a bracket froma hardware store lasted me a couple of months so far.

CatEye B-25. I sold that bike but should have kept that bracket, haven't seen another since.

It's metal, and originally meant to hold the rear reflector to the brake bridge, with the curved bit of the bracket reaching around the brake cable.

Based on that, I started looking through the used reflector bins and found something similar:

This is the best stuff that's easily available: http://store.oceanaircycles.com/products/coaxial-lighting-wire

It's fancy coaxial wire made for lavalier microphone leads, I convinced Rob Perks to buy a 100m spool so it was easier to get in short lengths, and now he's on his second spool of it

Need wire and Ocean Air is sold out. Does anyone have another source thats not $12 from RivBike?

I have a spool of speaker wire. Not as flexible as the OAC stuff but it would work in the interim.
