There is an awesome little burger shack in Fall City that I would highly recommend. At least for those of you who eat meat. They also have one of the better milkshakes around.

Small Fryes! They have all four major food groups: grease, salt, sugar and caffeine.

Instead of any of those plans, I would like to belligerently insist we have a black-tie lunch at the Salish lodge.

Knot all of us will be dining at the yacht club prior to and following the sailing race. Besides, how about some hometown spirit?

I'm sorry i didn't mean that to be a detractor. I love small fryes. In fact this thread has made me wonder how i might be able to swing through FC at a reasonable lunch hour in the near future.

My yacht club is the infamous Sloop Tavern, which itself does not present a high quality bar for food. The 83YC is out sailing with me that day (before probably heading up to BC).

we'll be meeting up at uwajimaya, sat morn at 9:30.
i'll be updating the initial post with all the important info here shortly.
stay tuned.

Not to rush you or anything, but I have a friend who might come, and I'd like to point them to some kind of coherent list of relevant info.

Does this pretty much cover it:

Meetup - Uwajimaya 9:30am

Conditions -

however only 4 miles of the dirt are significantly burly.

How far from camp is the closest place to park?

Will pay in cash, grass or ass*.

The campsite will be "Abstinence Zone" which means no alcohol or sexual type relations.

If you do wish to partake of non-approved activities, I suggest you take it elsewhere and I would like to reiterate the following advice:

There will be a "sin circle" located 500 feet away from the campsite. Inside this circle, if the demons of Satan continue to compel you, you may safely exorcise them without fear of heavenly retribution. Priests will be manning the confession booths located outside the sin circle 24/7

For the record, I won't name names, but I'm 100% sure someone got laid last Ben Country. Brought me back to my college dorm days.

I'll have you know I have a 100% record of NOT drinking, dancing, or sleeping around on Ben Countries. It's almost as significant an achievement as having a 100% record of riding on every Ben Country.

I don't foresee breaking that streak this year, either. You'll know if I do.

I'd drop a "that's what she said", but I'd like to think I'm grown up and too mature for that. So I won't.

That said, I'd be interested in helping to provide groceries for group chow, if only there were someone driving who could transport said groceries.

T-Minus 5 Days till NotBC8
Topic: Bike Prep

No more counting weekends. You have to wade through one more work week and then the time is nigh. You should already have the bike you plan to ride to Ben Country in your possession.

A. If you have recently modified* your bike in anticipation of BC you should be riding it to make sure everything is properly adjusted.
*new tires, fender, racks, panniers, cranks, shifters etc....

B. If you have recently acquired a new bike you should be riding it this week to make sure it is up to snuff. Modify as necessary. If B., then see A.

C. If you have neglected your bike since the last BC you should dust it off and be riding it this week to make sure it is ready to go. Modify as necessary. If C., then see A.

D. If you have been riding the shit out of your bike day-in, day-out since the last Ben Country make sure your bike is tight, greased, not too worn, and still on-off road worthy. Modify as necessary. If D., then see A.

Check that your shit is tight:
-Rack Bolts
-Brake Arm Bolts
-Brake Pad Bolts
-Crank Bolts
-Chainring bolts
-QR skewer/H
-Cleat bolts
-Spoke Nipples
-Pedals
-Headset
-Bottom Bracket
-Hubs

Check that your:
-Cables are not frayed
-Tires not too worn
-Chain not squeaky
-Feet don't hit your panniers when you pedal

Have following repair kit at a minimum:
-Spare tube
-Patch kit
-Pump/inflator
-Tools specific to your bike

Thanks Andre. I took my sort of recently acquired touring bike out last night.

I am super excited for this and pretty much just spent this morning looking at pictures of past Ben Countries.

PS I also find Zip Ties to be handy in a repair kit.
