The sleeping bag I was gifted turned out to be about 6 feet long. Doesn't really squish. But it looks warm, so I think I'll stick with it for now. Or buy a pool noodle. I want Derrick to buy me breakfast.

Hubris is a helluva drug: I'm pretty sure I can finish and fit the bike at least by Friday night.

I'm not even gonna touch making frame bags, because I'm being reasonable.

I just bought two packs of self-adhesive Park patches, just to be safe. No way I'll go through 12 flats, right?

get a Tubus Cargo Evo from xxcycle.com

massively lighter and stronger thanks to tubular 4130, and the design is almost impossible to beat at any price

YES 5/2 NO 2/1

If my lungs count as a mechanical, you better adjust those odds, because I'm a sick puppy, and I can't ride into showers at elevation like this. :'(

Cross posting from the "Have to sell" thread: bivy sack for sale

If you're fairly sure you'd like to buy it, you're welcome to borrow it for BC to try it out.

It's only "water resistant" though, and so, if the chance of rain stays the same or gets worse for Saturday, I'd only take it if you have a synthetic sleeping bag; this bivy wouldn't be so good with down.

Also, can someone suggest any good sleeping pad, sleeping bag and tent that won't blow a hole in my pocket? Do I really need a tent? I hear a lot of people are carrying 2 person ones :P

REI has and additional 35% some brands in the outlet. If you are still looking to get gear before the weekend you might consider some of these things. REI also rents sleeping bags(eww), sleeping pads, and tents.

Sleeping bags:
A 32deg down sleeping bag is pretty useful IMO. This bag is $137 on sale.
http://www.rei.com/product/870409/mountain-hardwear-hibachi-32-sleeping-bag-regular-2013-closeout

There is a synthetic bag (heavier, less compression) that come sout to ~$50 on sale.
http://www.rei.com/product/868725/alps-mountaineering-diamondback-30-sleeping-bag-regular-special-buy#tabs

Sleeping pad options:
Inflatable (packs smaller, but heavier, 2lbs) $33
http://www.rei.com/product/868677/alps-mountaineering-endurance-air-sleeping-pad-regular-special-buy

Foam (basic, no punctures, lightweight, 1lb, doesnot compact) $13
http://www.rei.com/product/868742/alps-mountaineering-foam-mat-625-sleeping-pad-regular-special-buy

Tent:
$72 basic, non-freestanding tent ie, you have to stake it out. door is at the head. 3lb 11oz, not that bad for a starter tent.
http://www.rei.com/product/868728/alps-mountaineering-mystique-10-tent-special-buy

$78 basic tent with a little more room, 2 side doors (I have come to like side doors more but some people don't care). 4lbs 3oz. Still not that bad for weight for a starter tent, maybe you could fit 2 people in here in a squeeze.
http://www.rei.com/product/868729/alps-mountaineering-mystique-15-tent-special-buy#specsTab

You'll want to get 1 or 2 day shipping though. ~$25-30

Anyone who really wishes they were going, but aren't: got a tent and bag to lend? Also down for sharing a tent instead of hauling one. Groundrules: no puking in the tent, all spooning to be negotiated first.

Weather for camp

Right now, looking like lows in the lower 40's, highs in the lower 50's, and not dry.

This is going to be awesome.

Scott this trip for any electric bike would not work unless there was a car following with three or four battery packs and a place to recharge for the trip home. My (real) bike is not ready (waiting on parts) so no ride for me. I am researching gear and camping stuff for the rest of the spring onward. I am sure you all will miss me flying by up the hills. See ya Thursday.

How're we feeling about that avalanche warning? Especially hanging out on rainy days following warm sunny ones.

PM'd you. Have a tent to loan you. Possibly bag, too. Probably every other accessory you could want.

Except my FYS. Still missing. Did I loan it to someone here? Sven saw, in a vinyl cloth and-made sheath from an old Boeing banner that says "Air Cargo" or similar on it.

Drivers: somebody pickup a keg and disclose your paypal info. I would much rather use my vessel to drink beer than pick up a thousand fucking cans and bottles Sunday AM.

I've been toying with the idea of driving out when I get off work at 10pm, from Bainbridge. But I don't think showing up with a midnight keg will really help anyone get home on Sunday...

But - I've been wrong before. Midnight keg = Sunday brunch?

Hmmm. Well, I figure I'll be leaving my place around 1-2PMish, so I think I could pick up a keg Sat afternoon, or else Friday night. If Friday, the beer might not be optimal temperature when I get there though.

However, if we rely on you to come through with a keg and you yes but Joe I am going to kick you in the nuts so hard bro.

So hard.

So.
