I've got to say that I'm excited. Like buying 700x35 filetread tires online right now excited.
Ben, what was the plan for the return trip? Ride back the way we came? Because we're like this close to Bon Jon Pass via NF-28 to Quilicene, which I hear is the bee's knees on a bike that likes gravel.

Very excited for my first Ben Country!
I guess I should get my brakes to stop squeaking, considering that final descent into camp.

I wish we could get some of this for Ben Country. Seems like just what we need. Who wants to bring liquor in a bottle, when you can just get it in a powder?

You do not need filetreads, the tread is of little benefit in this dirt and any little corner knobs will only work against you.
There's only one 100 yard section of loose gravel at the very beginning where Wycoff Road doubles as someone's driveway, everything else is gloriously smooth hardpack.
All you need is volume, period.

Yep I was thinking about doing that if the mood strikes me
Here's Snake Plissken's Escape From BC IX, all the valid routes in and out of camp. Green is rideable by all, yellow is rideable by badasses and walkable by all. Red is in various states of nonexistence / illegality / redneck annexation.
The parts of the route between 101 and Snow Creek Road are gated to motorized access, if you want to provide sag on-route you'll probably want to drive around via Woods Road.
If you want to bail out to civilization ASAP in the morning, take Jimmy Come Lately to Woods Road. Riding back out via Palo Alto to 101 would be counterproductive mileage and a tragic waste of well-earned low-hanging radness.

I don't think you get a weight benefit except to cancel out some of the liquid volume of the mixer (though you could have that powdered too!)
and apparently you can't reconstitute it into full-proof liquor?

When scouting this location did you guys camp?
I'm curious at this elevation how cold it gets and how this would affect one's packing strategy.
I mean, if a free Derrick breakfast (likely an egg mcmuffin or corn dog) means freezing your balls off with a pool noodle is your thing more power to ya, but I'm curious which bag I should bring.

I'm bringing the warm-weather bivy, 55-degree bag + liner, thermarest pad and a jacket - not my one-person tent or my comfy 35-degree bag. should be enough to not die, but I expect to be a little cold. I'll add a small tarp if it looks like there's moisture in the forecast.
