i picked up this single speed and had it for two weeks when this happened. Needless to say, i'm a bit sad.

looks like you may have had some corrosion problems there.

ah, that's just dirt/mud from the last couple days i was riding it in the rain.
The color the camera takes the picture makes it look rusty, but it's just dirt.
It's an old ass frame, so I'm sure it was bound to happen.
now, just... should i drop $300 on a new frame/fork... or buy another cheap frame? decision, decisions.

see the post of "Frames For Sale" and save yourself some scrilla on a nice frame.

Yeah, that's a pretty common failure mode. If any water gets into the seat tube, it can linger there. Plus, with ss / fixed bikes, we put a lot of torque on the pedals, and it puts a lot of stress on that joint.
That's where Lee broke his last frame.

No corrosion on mine, just nicely pipe-cut by the lug. Too small/delicate a frame for me.

i guess it would have to be that your top tube bent and your rear triangle deformed? that happened on my tinley in the front end when i broke the down tube.

Never broken a frame. Ever. Bent a tube once. Damn if I know how.
