I was appalled when I was checking out the cycling club from my undergrad and they listed this pic of me and my friends as "Vintage". They wish they had hair like Robert Smith.

Is there a statute of limitations on geekiness?
Note the then-state-of-the-art Bell V1 pro, wool jersey with matching hat and the well-worn Vans that matched... absolutely nothing. These weren't my cycling shoes. Around this time I was wearing either Sidis or Detto Pietros with horribly adjusted cleats.
At the time I was riding a 12-speed Raleigh with Sun tour aero brakes, aero clinchers, aluminum clips with Alfredo Binda straps, a white selle italia turbo saddle with some ungodly color of benotto tape. Probably white or red.
Also for the record, I did ok with the ladies. Being a cyclist in Oregon City in 1984 with shaved legs was novel enough to get me noticed. A good half of the school thought Aaron, Larry and I were gay.

Are, thankfully, though they're getting up there in years.
I am going to build my dad a bike, which I'll post about in a separate thread.

and I thought my scorn knew no limits. Ben, your mid-west hippie shit was so onerous I only have pity for those that had to tolerate you, and relief that you got a goddamned hair cut and ditched the Neal Young ensemble.
