So now that I have a new job with a significant bike commute that affords a small budget to dedicate to bikes, I'm starting to look around at replacing my cross check+ LHT fork frame. Why? Toe overlap. It's a 56cm with a longer stem stack to accomodate my fit and I'm sick of the overlap.

What should I look at for resolving this? Same frame a size bigger and adjust the rest of my cockpit accordingly? Fiddle with the fork rake? Buy a different frame?

Yours in toes-

How much toe overlap do you have?

A new low-trail fork would get you 20mm additional clearance. It would probably end up being a custom fork and thus not cheap (maybe Soma has one that wouldn't need to be custom).

A longer front center (usually through a longer top tube) is the real fix, so that is a new frame.

Many 56cm bikes will have TCO with 700C wheels. Some avoid it by slackening the head tube angle, which helps TCO but can hurt handling.

Soma Champs Élysées Low Trail Touring Fork has a 65mm offset vs the 45mm of the LHT fork.

Thanks for the advise. With closely fitting fenders, I have roughly an inch of overlap, but I've never thought to measure it. My fender will hit my big toe at about the 2nd knuckle if it's at 3:00.

Short of unexpected disaster, it'll probably be a fall project, so plenty of time to brainstorm/shop/daydream.
