Someone who had no business with this bike got off of a metro bus with it in greenwood tonight and then left it sitting against a trash can as he got onto another bus. I took it home, no luck on bike index, and I don't even know what kind of bike it is, but I am sure someone wants this back.
What are we looking at? Can someone smarter than me figure that out?

Paint's been stripped off - Paint in the crevices of the serial number, and there's no plastic cable guide on the bottom bracket like there should be. Prob forgot to put it back on.
Would guess it was made in Jan of 2007. Parts list on the bike would coincide with that too - those brifters in particular. The saddle is newer - is that a Brooks Cambrium?

Is there any stamping on the rear dropouts? Underneath where the wheel clamps? (You'll have to loosen the wheel)

I love y'all. I tell any other cyclists I get to know to register their bikes on Bike Index, because of exactly this; there are people out there who will do their best to get your bike back to you.

I'm about 99.9% sure it's a Motobecane LeChampion Ti.
Frame tube shape, head tube shape and especially the brake pads at the bottom of the slot seem to confirm.

not sure; I don't think I've seen a LeChampion Ti with a chainstay bridge and rack/fender braze-ons.

Put a serial number on the bottom bracket because that is the first place someone will look.

One weird trick: put your contact info on a laminated card inside the seat tube as well. A mechanic will find it someday.

this idea ends up being a fail under real-world bike theft conditions; standard operating procedure for thieves involves stripping your frame of anything that can be easily unbolted with hand tools then selling those parts because they are near-impossible to trace.
when they pull the seatpost they'll probably find your nice card and toss it.

That's a Motobecane Century Elite Ti. I used to own it but sold it to the guy from whom it was taken. I've confirmed with him specifics about the frame before showing him pictures (can show text msg screenshots if necessary). Fred Blasdel contacted me about this when he recognized the frame and I passed the owners contact info to him. Adam, if I send you his info can you sync up with him?
