Shimano BB-UN26

I have this bottom bracket, put it on a month or so ago, and it has shimmied loose a far as i can tell. At this point I need to re-torque it, so i ordered a torque wrench, but i don't know what to set it to.

Any ideas? I googled it, but I got back like 640 lbs, which I think might either be way wrong or a horrible metric unit conversion.

"640 lbs" probably means 640 inch pounds (inches x pounds). Foot pounds and newton meters (for the SI nerds) are more common, but 640 foot pounds is too much to be plausible.

Torque will be listed in a unit of (force) x (distance). This means if you are pushing on your lever (wrench handle) 1 inch from the rotational axis (center of bolt), you should apply 640 lbs of force. Or maybe, if you're a little wuss, go 2 inches out and apply 320 lbs of force.

Oh hey found this: http://www.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/SI/FC/SI-0086A-001/SI-0086A-001-ENG_v1_m56577569830657937.pdf

Adapter / bottom bracket tightening torque:
50 - 70 N·m {435 - 608 in. lbs.}

Cool, I figured it was a matter of conversion, so 435-608, lets call it 525 in lbs.

525 in lbs / 12 = ~44 ft lbs

Thanks, that should get me through it.
