Anyone else with one of these run into this problem? Just noticed on my Philips Saferide that it doesn't appear to be charging fully, even after 24 hours connected to the charger.

If memory serves, this uses a more-or-less standard 4 cell Li battery pack, but i'm too lazy right now to open it up. I keep hoping it'll snap out of it and show a full charge.

it has 4xAA NiMH cells in a standard carrier inside

it can top them off from USB but the charger isn't super smart

there's a captive screw on the bottom, unthread that a bit and the whole thing hinges open to swap batteries

a smart charger can do a reconditioning cycle and tell you their actual capacity, but you should probably get some new "Low Self Discharge" cells like Eneloops for it

Yeah, I bought one of these for Elyse recently and seems like it's dead every time she grabs for it. We have some Eneloops that I've been meaning charge outside the light then toss in. I'd imagine this battery song and dance is going to get cumbersome over time.
She loves the light though!

That's why I really like this setup:
http://www.xxcycle.com/front-light-ls-950-led,,en.php
http://www.xxcycle.com/support-eclairage-av-trelock-zl-500,,en.php

Also has a german-spec road beam, but with a little display telling you exactly how many hours and minutes it has left in the internal usb/lithium battery at the current output level

and that's a 6-45 hour range instead of 1 or 2 hours, no range anxiety

Can confirm, the Trelock is awesome.

Thanks for the link to those mounts, Fred. I need to get a couple more to facilitate swapping between bikes easier.

yeah the strap mount it comes with is "any size" but only really works well with 31.8 bars

the 25.4/22.2 rigid mount from their older models is way better for everything else
