Anyone here have a setup with sram road hydraulic disc brakes? Id like to fondle your hoods, or maybe even go for a test ride. Im in need of a new build and cant tell if I should do cable actuated or hydraluic this time. Im a bit wary of the bulbous hoods and want to try before I buy.

I don't yet, but I will... soonish. I'm still gathering parts for my build, and so it's probably a month off from when I'll have a rideable bike if you haven't decided by then. Or if you really want, I can temporarily pseudo install them on bars if you want to just get a feel.

Don't spend real money on road mechanical disc

the TRP Hylex system is surprisingly good, the levers have the best feel and ergonomics, though the hoods are uniquely long. Just get metallic pads when you replace the fast-wearing stock ones.

Do you mean look at the hylex hoods or calipers? Im going for sram 1x11 drivetrain, something like 38x11-42. Id hadnt really tot as far as calipers, hung up on the monoliths that are the current hood cylinders.

the hylex hydro levers are the novel part, the calipers are good enough (can be upgraded to Shimano if you're fussy)

a big part of why they're nice is the lack of shifty bits, so you'd have to use barend shifters

the Di2 hydro levers also feel extra-nice for the same reason (and lol could be 1x11 using the XTR rear derailleur)
