Being quite opinionated I was very unhappy with the "off the self" first aid kits. So I started building my own. It'd also be nice if more folks could self rescue, so I made some for the class. These are a great size for throwing in a bag and forgetting until you need them.
I would appreciate $5 to defray costs. If you cant afford pay when and what you can, even if its $0 and never. I've got a batch of 5 in my bag for tomorrow, anyone interested?
Pouch is about 5" x 3", ~200D oxford polyurethane treated nylon, waterproof & fire resistant fabric, #3 coil zipper.
1x Wet Ones wipe
2x Betadine disenfectent
1x Aleve (NSAID for muscles & swelling)
1x Acetaminophen/Aspirin/Salicyamide/Caffeine (headache etc)
1x Hydrocortisone (topical itch)
1x Loperamide (stomach)
3x topical antibiotic (bacitracin/neomycin/polymyxin)
2x 2" x 3" non stick gauze
1x 36" waterproof medical tape
Adhesive bandages (Band Aid waterproof/cloth "toughstrips") sealed in a plastic bag:
1x "knuckle"
1x "fingertip"
1x 1 3/4" x 4" (XL)
2x 1"x 3" (L)
2x 3/4" x 3" (M)
2x 5/8" x 2 1/4" (S)

I do also make a slightly larger size, suitable for camping and groups. More of the same plus rolled gauze, larger gauze pads, moist burn pads, duct tape, quick clot, mylar emergency blanket, tongue depressors, etc. Im low on those supplies but would restock if theres interest.

Def in for 1 small and 1 big--take your time on the big ones if you don't have those supplies. I hate building first aid kits and you're right, the off-the-shelf ones are garbage/overpriced/underbuilt.

i always carry a pretty comprehensive kit when i go camping. i've rebuilt it myself a few times over the years. a few pairs of rubber gloves plus LOTS of wipes and gauze are what i tend to use the most, plus several sizes of bandages. i also try to pack it with a few types of medicines.
i just took a cpr class. those are always highly suggested. some can be found for free, or there's a pay class by a place on stoneway that is real informative and only a few bucks. http://www.cprseattle.com/

Gary already suggested i do an emergency safety third kit: "Add the condom, a lighter, pack of firecrackers, airline bottle of whiskey, and a plan b pill and you'd have quite an emergency preparedness kit."
I do carry gloves myself, would be easy to throw some in in the next batch. As it is I did keep these on the smaller personal use side. The kit small enough to carry is infinitely better than the larger one you leave at home. I also havent broke down cost per unit. This is just supplies out of my existing cache. Will see if I can include a bit more and keep it small/inexpsensive.

The five went quick at the meetup. Would appreciate feedback from any of the folks who have one. Based on interest in the thread Ill sew another batch of ~15 small and ~10 large pouches. Hope to get them stocked for thurs next week, or FHR (fred, Im looking at you).
I ran my BOM tonight and the current contents are $4.12 plus about $1.20 for the pouch materials plus taxes. Will try to keep the "small" at $5 donation. Based on the pricier toys in the "large" kit I expect closer to $12 there.

use both; you want pads to stop the initial bleeding and to absorb fluid, and the tegaderm to keep the wound from scabbing.

If you work at BezosCorp, you can apply to be a "safety czar" which means you coordinate evacuations when the End Times come. You get a reflective jacket and a CPR/AED course with it.
