Guess this counts as 'gear'. Back in the early days, cycling clubs would eschew Twitter and gather the riders together with bugle calls. You can listen to some of them by scrolling about halfway down in this hodgepodge of an article (which has some other bits about bikes as well as many other things).

Seriously though, can we score a bugle? As a Twitterphobe nothing would make me happier than this.
