Kachess Lake and Little Kachess Trail:

Of the whole 26 miles of my trip the stretch from the campground along the lake was the worst. After the initial well level and graveled trail it climbs up and down the hillside gaining and losing hundreds of feet of elevation along the lake. Several rough scrambles up rocks or steep ledges. BTW: the bridge from the trailhead is gone but it is easy to cross Box Creek along the rocks. Just north of the island is an area with a toilet and camps. I found two nice trees to hang my hammock for the night with a scenic view over the lake on a prominite point north of the island and camps. The trail was strenuous, but not poorly maintained. There were about 3 blowdowns left over the trail.

the trip reports from prior years aren't much better. the campground at Katchess Lake is on the rideshed map and would be a nice trip in of itself.

I believe in you Kevin, I bet it's not as bad as it sounds. Do it!

Found a few more resources. Looks like a bad idea with a bike.

thanks everyone for convincing me not to depend on this trail! i ended up going the long around through Roslyn and although it added ~25 miles it was way better and probably faster than doing a 4 mile hike-a-bike at twilight.

There's a rideable getrad shortcut route

You climb up to the top of Kachess Ridge from NF-4818, and descend singletrack trail that follows/is a creek to French Cabin Road

Andre and I rode it in the rain on Labor Day Weekend 2014
