the valve on my Bikextras floor pump wore out - the hose rubber has degraded several times already at the pump connection, so it's time to replace the whole assembly. any recommendations for replacement?

i'm looking at something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Park-PFP-3-Hose-Head/dp/B000GJVHOS/ and not a 'free shipping' Chinese cheapie from eBay. might have to chop off the connector to make it work.

When this happened to me, I bought a Silca brass presta chuck off ebay. I was able to reuse the hose. There is a place in Ballard that made me a custom air line for a shop compressor. Can't remember the name, but they would probably be able to sell you industrial grade pressure rated tubing by the foot. The Silca chuck on a non treaded valve is smooth like butter and the chuck will last forever. The rubber seal is replaceable.

I mostly like the Topeak Smarthead. They sell a replacement kit that installs on almost all floor pumps

https://www.amazon.com/Topeak-SmartHead-Bicycle-Floor-Upgrade/dp/B000FIE4JK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479690419&sr=8-1&keywords=smarthead

Nice job fixing instead of replacing!

Speaking of fixing pumps, I am going to hijack your thread, sorry.

Anyone want to buy a shiny floor pump that needs to be rebuilt?
I replaced it with a JoeBlow Booster with a chamber for seating tubeless tires and I don't forsee having interest in repairing the old one.

Issues:
- Annoying screw-in type head (they sell easier replacement slip-on heads) that has an issue with the screw interface joining with the part that clamps to the hose. They separate very easily and I think they were held together by the seal of an O-ring. Might just need a new O-ring but probably better to get a new, less annoying, head.
- Plunger seems to have scraped and worn down the donut cap on the top of the chamber. Mostly a visual thing but you might still want to overhaul.

Amazon has them for $80 new.
Asking $20?

I love those screw-on pumps to death. Hose is getting a bit ratty on my lezyne, but just yesterday I was muttering to myself about how it's the best thing I've ever gotten from REI.

I initially really loved it until I started accumulating 650b tubes with a removable valve cores and soon found myself unintentionally removing the core after inflating the tire. Now that I've got some tubeless wheels I fear it might happen more often with the added bonus of tire sealant projecting all over my glasses.

I also have a great high-volume Lezyne hand pump and while I appreciate that it doesn't pop off while I furiously pump away I've also had the same valve core problems on the road.

I'm likely going to need to pick up a valve core remover sometime this week so perhaps that is the secret of cranking them down enough that they don't unintentionally unthread with the pump head.

This of course doesn't really matter if you're not using valves with removable cores (most of them).
