I'm hoping to go sleep outside on Sat. night, and ride my f'n mtb Sat. and Sun straight outta camp. Tolt McDonald campground is closed for the season.
Weather looks to be cold but dry this weekend, what other places can I have a nice camp w/ fire AND roll straight to trails? Kitsap Memorial is ok, but I'd like to try something different (and potentially not pay for a ferry trip).
Primitive sites are fine. The fewer people also camping in the area (other than you fools), the better.

I'd say Middle Fork trail, but as per Evergreen MTB, it's closed for the season.
It's always only illegal when you get caught, but there are strong arguments for trail degradation & erosion control for not riding out of season. YMMV.

it's a ferry trip away, but fort ebey state park on whidbey has mountain biking right from the camp sites. probably pretty quiet this time of year. camping and fires are all a yes there.
Also Mt.Constitution on Orcas. Mountain Lake is a beautiful campsite and the riding is some of the best in the state. Its a lot better riding than Ebey scenery wise, but the climb to the top and long trails make it better for most of a day riding. Ebey is better for hitting the trails for an hour, then hitting the fire/beer/campsite for an hour.

You can also pay a day use fee and use the hot tub/sauna at Doe Bay.
