SEATTLE's BIG FUCKING DEAL ALL GIRLS RACE! Get ready
Last year our number of racers swelled to 103 women who came together to celebrate bikes, the city, and each other.
In addition to fast girls getting sweet ass prizes, we have prizes in wacky categories to encourage new or non-competitive riders (a MOUNTAIN of prizes, thanks to our incredible sponsors!). This year we will be adding an Out of Towners category to to celebrate the special anarchy of looking for secret spots in a town you don’t know. As always we will have a Single Speed/Fixed category and Master’s for women 45 & up.
Registration starts at 2pm and race at 3pm sharp.
Location: Doctor Jose P. Rizal Park
Things to bring: $10, map of Seattle (old timey paper encouraged, trust me it gives plotting advantage), a lock, a pen, and a helmet.
After party at Fremont Dock. Awards 6:30 (ish). They will have $3 beer specials for everyone. They have food, a big outside deck, and will bring out lawn games in their parking lot. Plus there is Karaoke starting at 9pm. Who can say no to Karaoke? No one that’s who.
VOLUNTEER SCHPEEL
If you're interested in volunteering for Girls of Summer and you have volunteered previously cool just let us know here or the FB event (that will be coming soon) or email menstrualmonday@gmail.com. Repeat dudes are our favorites.
For any guys who are thinking of volunteering but haven't done it before volunteering for checkpoint means you will be at the checkpoint from 3pm - 6pm at least (maybe 6:30). We like as many girls to finish as possible. I know it sounds like a long time but I promise its fun. All the guys re-volunteering can attest to that. We put three people to a stop. Two people to do whatever needed and another one to take pics. This also keeps a spare in case someone needs to take a break/run to store. If you tell us you want to volunteer and we don't have your email from last year send us an email at menstrualmonday@gmail.com. If you just come up and say this to us on a ride it will go in one ear and out the other and not count. We run a tight ship and need to add your email to a volunteer spreadsheet. A week before the event we will email you more detailed information. We try to provide our OFFICIAL volunteers with drink tickets for the after party but can't promise anything yet. We can promise you will have fun.
I repeat IF YOU HAVE NOT VOLUNTEERED BEFORE send us an email. Just saying on the forums does not count. We do all our volunteer communications though email. Guys who have volunteered before do not have to because we already have their email and just move it from column A (database of dudes) to B (dudes actually volunteering).
I'll ruin a check point! I think I'm in the database of dudes (it's like having binders full of women, but for the 21st century....seriously Mitt really need to get his shitt together)....anywhoo! Yay! GoS

My GoS prizes-
year one: detour handlebar bag
year two: tattoo gift card
year three: sandblast and powder coat
This race has the best prize pile in town, but that's not why I race it. Two years ago, I heard Monica say "do you think we still need to do this?" And I immediately listed the bazillionty reasons why I still think this town needs an annual all-girl alleycat race, and pleaded with her to continue the event. So THANK YOU Monica and Marley for organizing and creating this space for all us to choose our own adventure. You are working your asses off to make this happen, and I appreciate you!
Also, even though I don't do it for the prizes..... I still wanna win another tattoo. Bring it, racers!
P.S. we are set for dudes. Emails will go out soon!

Twas the night before race day
and all through the city
excitement was building
from titty to titty.
Their chains had been greased
by each mistress, with care
tires pumped and brakes dialed
in the basement, with flair!
Their locks and their maps
were packed in their bags
and thoughts of the prizes
made their tails wag.
You in your kerchief
and I in my cap
we'll ride like the wind
and won't take no crap
Fuck the Patriarchy.
GIRLS OF SUMMER, WOOOOOOO!!!! Thank you Monica and Marley for making this extremely badass race happen, you are seriously community treasures. See everybody tomorrow at Jose Rizal!
