It's been a while since a bunch of us have grouped up together to get suits from that dude who flies in from Indonesia. Anyone interested in another round? I think it's been, oh, 4 or 5 years? Probably time for a new suit. And if you don't have a suit, you're likely not going to find a better deal unless you fly to china on your own dime.
Update: plans have been finalized. 7pm at my place on June 13. The guys name is Sonny. He can measure you and finalize your order in about 20-30 min per person.
I NEED YOU TO TELL ME IF.YOU WILL BE HERE.
If you do come, bring it wear a suit or AT least have some pictures of what you would like to explain what kind of final product.you want. Educate yourself on single vs.double breasted, French or Italian cuffs, full, partial, or no break, full vs. broken collar, etc. I.e. read up on wilipedia some suit shit.
So far I know about 4 folks are pretty solid, but let me know ASAP who else wants in.
My address is:
2829 west Elmore st. In magnolia.

does he do bespoke/custom dress shirts?
are the suits glued, or half / full-canvas interlining?
are the sleeve cuff buttons done in surgeon's style (functional) or non-functional?
depending on the above, I may be a yes but likely a no. :-)

yes, half-lined and functional. Or at least my two suits from him are. You can specify every little detail too, like contrasting threading etc.

1)Yes, they are bespoke. The evening meetup with the guy is basically so that you can be measured, choose what you want to buy and which fabrics, and then give 'em your CC info.
2)Suits are fully lined, and you can choose what lining.
3)Functional cuffs. CAn be french or not.

looks like he's swinging through seattle in June. I'll reach out to him to get a closer idea of what his timeline is.
You do not! Anyone who is looking for a tailored suit, man, woman, or transgender, can get a suit tailored.
If memory serves, kyleen got a suit from this guy, and I think, uh, someone else. It's been a few years.
I got two pencil skirts and two fitted button ups. Despite me saying a MILLION TIMES that I like my business casual tight fitting, when I received them they were 90s old mom baggy. Had to go through a whole stupid process for pinning them to where I wanted them, measuring how many inches I wanted off, mail that back to Indonesia, and then wait a million more years to get them back as they should have fit in the first place.
So yeah, don't recommend if you want something nicely fit.

ugh that does not sound fun. I can always get poorly-tailored clothing locally.
dudes, how 'bout y'all post some photos of these suits? let's see how they fit you.
I hear it works out well if you don't have a waist and boobs.

I wore mine at Derrick's wedding. I think that was the last time anyone here has seen me in a suit. lost my bowtie there. And I was also easily 15+ lbs heavier than when I had the suit made.

something tells me you have to have a certain bmi to enjoy these suits. out.

LOL. Not really. But the one caveat with anything custom tailored is that unless you specifically state you want it a bit loose, it will be more-or-less a custom fit for your body when you were measured. It takes about 8-12 weeks for the order to be delivered, so if you balloon up or down in weight in that time, don't be surprised if your shit don't fit.

So, right now it looks like the only folks expressing interest so far are Me, Botorff, potentially Lauren. Rob's out, TooTall's out.

I'm in.
I also would like to point out that while I'm sure this particular tailor does all shapes, sizes, genders etc. I probably wouldn't get fitted for a suit at a bridal gown shop. I'm sure this guy took a shot at it with the ladies and from the sounds of it wasn't the best fit.
So fat jokes and shitty tailor comments aside the price is right especially as this city gets more expensive by the day. I know there are old school point83 Bros who have been happy with the guys work.

For the record they advertise pretty heavily that they do women's clothes and had a full ladies catalog to choose from, but yes dudes have seemed to have a better experience.

Monica's experience aside ... I'm not in or out, just trying to figure out if this stuff's of reasonable quality and worth pursuing. all of my posts in this thread have been asking you for more info.
(thanks Monie for stepping in and providing a URL - that was helpful)
you're welcome to send me info and let me make my own decision. examples of what has been done in the past is particularly useful.

While I can't bring anything on tonight's ride, I will take some high-res photos of my suit and shirts.
Overall the seams are tight, the fabric feels good, and the french cuffs are nice. I also have the email that I got from 'em, so I'll inquire as to how many people I need to show up to get a "private" measuring session. The name of the tailor company is Excelsior Tailor Bangkok
So that you know the general price ranges - suits start from $289 (but expect probably $350ish if you want nicer fabrics), and they currently are running a special of 2 suits 2 shirts 2 ties for $689.

Also update - Sonny, the tailor, got back to me. HE'll be in town the 1st week of June. So, basically before the Girls of Summer alleycat. Will get more precise date from him, but for now expect it to be somewhere between 6/1 and 6/9. The measuring will happen at my house, so at least we don't have to go to a hotel like a cheap prostitute.

I am extremely surprised to beat Joe to this, but shorts made from suit material are "bermuda shorts". Invented by the british military for wear in hot climates while still looking proper.
