tonight seems like a nice night to watch the sun go down, pour one out, and hug friends.
i'll be prefunking at SLU in the sunshine.
someone come up with a plan that puts us in view of a sunset with time to spare to watch it.

we have exactly 1 hour to get somewhere to enjoy the sunset. how long does it usually take us to get to carkeek? seems like it might be a stretch? unless everyone packs along stuff and we do no store stop.
anywhere closer? alki? discovery beach? JEFFERSON PARK

Foster Point affords a nice sunset & swimming options. It's supposed to be a high of 83 freedom degrees today. Sunset is around 9...

one time i took a tuesday to "starla drum view bench," it's nice, close, and might be what you're looking for.

Even going right over the top of West Seattle, it'd take about an hour to get to Lincoln Park.
What about Alki Beach Park?

my vote* is somewhere along lake washington (Groveland beach park, Seward Park, etc) over Linkin Park / Puget place it'll both be closer and you can't swim at Linkin Park / Puget place unless you're bananas**
*If I even make it out tonight
**There are lots of bananas

Betty Bowen view point.
However Softcore made a very good suggestion.
Google maps says it's 57 minutes to Carkeek and I'm pretty sure we're faster than they are. If we can keep people from being dumb at the QFC that shouldn't be a problem.

Lincoln Park!
We haven't been there for a while, or at least uh, I haven't. Same distance as Carkeek if we do a pretty direct route and not the Alki route.

It is possible that I'll in Seattle tonight; would it be okay if the ride 'leader'' message me with the actual destination when it's decided? Please no trolling me on this, I don't have the patience or energy for it today. :-)
Thanks everyone.

Dont forget the olympics are in the way. Sun disappears behind those 10-15 minutes earlier than the horizon.

You know, I'm slightly surprised no one mentions Golden Gardens.

It's a straight shot, easy to accomplish, has the best view, fire pits and provides easy access for beverage and snack stops.

Because it's regularly packed dick-to-elbow with bro mayhem in the summers now. Haley just got shot with a BB in her leg riding away from there!
Alki is even crazier, with pets getting run over every week by speeding tuner cars and drive-by shootings with real guns.

I do agree that it's full of d-bags this time of year, but lets think of the positives: it's an easy flat route, the group wont get separated, its super fast to get to, and FredMeyers is on the way for firewood.
Oh yeah, and it is a great place to watch the sunset.

How about instead of Golden Garden's just go to Shilshole Marina? I'll tell you which slip Alex's boat is at and I'll give you my key so you can get into the marina.

Fast Zack and I aren't going to make WLC, but hope to catch the ride just before sunset. We'll follow the twitters, so please post once destination is known! I'm trying not to get too excited at the MOAR PLANNING GG/waterwheel suggestion, but DAMN that sounds perfect.
