Hmmm... that does start and end very near to home. Let's see what time I wake up.

Never ridden with those folks before but decided to give it a try. See you there.

This was really fun. I didn't get a headcount, but it looked like 40 - 50 people?
Tom, Shows Up Joe, and Fat Rob took off like speedy demons, leaving Squirrel, Bob Hall, Rachel, and I in the dust. Moira and Kate showed up a little late, but they still technically finished, which is more than I can say for some of us.
There was a bit of "confusion" when getting on to the Cedar River Trail, in that a left turn was required, and not a right turn. You can blame Garmins or group dynamics, but it's not like the cue sheet didn't have a 'LEFT' on it, so I have no one to blame but myself.
A lot of people took the right (incorrect) turn, but it looks like only Fat Rob, Moira, and Kate discovered their mistake in a timely fashion.
The group I was in (with Rachel, Squirrel, and Bob Hall), didn't discover our mistake until quite a bit later. 9 miles later. Bob and I turned around to do it right, but we missed the staffed control cutoff by 10 minutes :( .
All in all, A++ would do again. Thanks to Moira for accompanying me as I limped the last 30 km to the finish.
Actually finished:
Fat Rob
Kate
Moira
Missed the control cutoff, but did all the route (plus a bit more...):
Me,
Bob Hall
Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eaters:
Joe
Tom
Rachel

Yep that was unfortunate. Joe and I realized our mistake a few miles past the turn but neither of us had eaten much of anything that morning so decided to just push on to the finish. In my defense I had given up my queue sheet because there weren't enough brevet cards to go around and the device led us astray.
Better luck next week. Currently planning to ride the 200k. If you've never done one this looks like a very friendly route, only 4700' of climbing.
Hey, this is Theo with SIR. Thanks to everyone who came out to ride with us on Saturday. Sorry about the confusing turn and under-preparedness at the start.
Intermediate control times aren't usually enforced very strictly and it doesn't seem right to penalize riders who were trying hard to make up for a wrong turn. Particularly considering that we didn't make that turn sufficiently clear.
So, Rob and Bob Hall, we're considering you finishers.
Hope to see some of you again this Saturday (7/15) for the 200K. We'll print extra cards and cue sheets! :)
P.S. There were 60 people.

Hooray!
Also, thanks to Kate for pulling me back to Columbia City, it totally kicked my ass.
Can't make the 200K on 7/15 but I'm training up for the 4 Volcanoes 300K at the end of the month.

Woot, thanks Theo!
In it for the 200K this weekend. This time I'll bring a bike with gears.

Anyone here interested in doing the 300K on 7/29? I'm looking for someone to split a campsite with at Packwood and/or carpool. I have a car w/ roofrack and have room for myself plus 2 others.

200k was a great route with great company - I'd like to do a 300k this summer or fall, but I'm not in shape enough for the 3 volcanoes. There's a permanent 300k with less elevation than the 200k we just did if anyone's interested in cheesing it :P

I am most interested in the 300K permanent. Would be cool to get another group together to tackle this before summer is over.
I saw the route. It looks do-able, and it will be a new distance milestone for me.
Facebook is telling me there is a free weekend day Aug 5 or 6.

I'm interested, but that weekend will not work for me. The one before or after work better. What is the perm number?

Definitely interested in the 300K perm as well! If you go for the weekend of Aug 5/6, I can join on the 6th. Also either the one before or after.

Ahem... the 5th is the annual downhill drunken shitshow. Which probably ruins any chances of an early start on 6th as well...

Looks like its reversable too, so we could leave from Bremerton and come back up into Seattle -probably the better idea, no dealing with ferry schedule on return.

My parents are in town from the 6th to the 11th, but I'd be down to try this out a bit later in August? The 12th or 13th could be good.

I can do the 13th too, and may or may not be in favor of taking the reverse route. Does the Ferry even run when we would want to start?

re: Dead Baby Yakima Float Ride to Ellensburg weekend (Aug 11-13) on FB -
Moira: "This looks rad, 80% down."
but completely understandable that you're looking to make alternative plans with parents in town that day. :-)
recommend riding this SIR perm anti-clockwise starting in Bremerton to take advantage of the lack of hills at the end and the likely tailwinds you'll get between Elma and Yelm. these are worth the price of the ferry and having to get up really early to get to the terminal.

Yea my parents leave the day before, so the float might now work out but I could do a long ride the next day. We'll see what everyone's schedules shake out to.

This seems like excellent advice, and I want to encourage us all to take it.
Also, I'm officially lobbying for the 13th. There's a special event in Key Arena happening on the 12th - not at all related to video games- that I have tickets to attend.
