Spin (the new bikeshare) is apparently giving away free beer at Optimism tonight.

I gotta yes but no this as I drove into work today so that I could marvel in the wonderfulness of the new WB 520 offramp to Montlake and its ensuing "opening day, evening commute" shitshow
Also most of my body don't work too good after riding a shitload of gravel yesterday. See you tomorrow for some refreshing Zima, though!

i've never been to optimism, what's the beef?
as for bikeshare, i'm all about designated steal-me bikes. Those things are heavy so I'm hoping for some sort of gravitational collapse of the chops in the near future.
Also an interesting insight via Tom F's blog
Quote:
Spin is not enforcing any kind of service area at the moment. So you bike to any Seattle neighborhood (though not all neighborhoods will have bikes until someone rides there). The company will follow the data and let users demonstrate demand for areas. So if you want bike share where you live, catch a bus downtown and bike one back.

I've never been myself but heard its a cool space with lots of unused brewing equipment they're trying to grow into the space
Optimism seems like a fitting name

Simple. Instead of saying a beer is an Amber or an IPA, they give them stupid descriptions, like "hint of summer, sunshine, afternoon naps, and happiness." So people stand in line and ask, "What is most like your Amber or your IPA?" which makes the lines long. Bascially, cutesy asshole shit. The people working the bar seem tired of answering the questions about what style of beer they actually are.
Also, the beer isn't that great. Still better than Bad Jimmy's or Hilliards.

"A light essence of gasoline mixed with the ennui reminiscent of a farty summer afternoon stuck with grandparents"

Q: How many tech bros does it take to change a light bulb in a brewery?
A: Just one, but first a large group of others will stand around in the dark talking for hours about how they could do it more efficiently.

How many reporters does it take to write about tech bros ruining seattles traditional light bulb changing scene?

Www.spin.pm apparently pm is a country code for Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Also there is already competition in town I saw a lime bike at Westlake just now. Different paint job a slightly different bike at least the basket but same lock and app setup. I'll never know though cause I have a windows phone and you guessed it the app isn't compatible. I'm not missing much though. Even though they solved the issue of locking it up only in designated areas it's still not that many gears. People who don't know how to get around or up lower grade hills won't know were to go. You risk losing your transportation while in a business. I still think they are going to end up with bikes sitting unused outside of downtown once people ride that far.
