Per TOS Rules, I am hereby declaring the Slip N Slide Ride, and also the DBD, to be "Colors Rides". All riders with .83 regalia are required, with the threat of being chuffled at, to wear their colors.

And you may be thinking "why would I wear wool on a 94 degree day!?". to which I will glady respond that it's probably one of the BEST fabrics to wear to keep cool, as it retains water pretty OK and that provides excellent cooling.

More importantly: there has been a discount for .83 at the sign ups for DBDH in the past. Wearing your crap might get you a discount. At the very least, it might get some put-out khaki bros complaining about why YOU get a discount and they don't.

the slip and slide is my anniversary ride! This marks 5 years with the club, traditionally this is the year where one receives a wooden gift. I will also accept one "Joe shutting up" and/or "you're not my real dad!"

And yes, before we get too far down that rabbit hole, I do in fact realize I just opened the door for jokes about the club "giving me wood", but you're all better than that

I think this is also the anniversary everyone celebrates by arguing with Joe that this isnt the goddamn military, nor a real gang, and they wouldnt want to participate if it was like that. Then there's some back and forth about its only once per year why dont you love freedom blah blah blah. Before finally reaching a fuck it middle ground. Wear your point 83 jersey/tshirt/onsie if you want to because youd do you boo. Also +2 to discount. And getting to explain to khaki bros that there's more than 1 bike club in seattle. Also opportunities for drunken twinsies pics.

I'll be out of town this weekend, but if anybody wants to borrow my jersey or pink tank top, you can pick up in Ravenna or downtown before then.

I hope you're not implying any inconsistency within this club. That would be hurtful.

It's interesting.

Point83 has certainly lost some shine in the community. I met a person at peddler last week and they noticed my point83 t shirt. This person basically assumed point83 was this misogynistic rapey boys club and for that reason chose to never go on a Thursday ride. I was curious so I asked where they heard this and mentioned a member of the club. I felt a little bummed that members of the club are out there not encouraging other cyclists to come out and have fun but even going far enough to basically scare people into not coming on rides. While I certainly acknowledge that .83 is NOT for everyone I think that this club was created for inclusion for all types of people and I feel that what this person assumed of the group without ever coming on a ride based on the opinion of a current active member was weak. Word travels fast in bike community so if you wanna trash the group start another group that's better I guess.

TL;DR haters are amongst us.

I'll wear a club shirt but I'm not wearing a fucking wool jersey this Saturday.

I'm going to cut you some slack since I was parroting this lie as recently as last year.

I love me a good merino wool tee since I exclusively wear them for 3/4 seasons but I finally saw the light this year and realized wool is fucking terrible for summer, even the ultra thin t-shirts are unbearable during hotter days.

It took me a few summers to realize that the thin cotton/poly western shirts with snap buttons are by far my favorite tops for hot weather riding.

Not naming names, because that's never my style, but there were several private groups on FB where people would constantly complain about .83, yet they would still actively ride with the crew. Im glad im not into that toxic social media, justice warrior bullshit, but if individuals want to constantly bitch about a club that they're not happy with, then perhaps they should GTFO. If im not happy with something in the group, i tend to taper my attendance, reevaluate the situation, and not blast it all over the internet.

As far as people calling it rapey, thats a huge word that I dont take kindly to people throwing around unless there's been actual accounts of rape happening. I've heard of guys getting handsy the past year and a half (its happened to me numerous times), but people need to call those bastards out on that shit. I dont care how many drinks you've had, keep youre hands to yourself unless consent is given.

Anyways, I dont judge an entire group of people by the shitty encounter i've had with one person.

Oh, and fuck yeah, SLIP AND SLIDE!!!

Hey Jake, don't you know that we're a misogynist club that goes and puts DICK PICS in PARKS where CHILLLLLLLDREENNNN and FAMILIES can find them?

I think I know who you met and the ride they was talking about.

On that note, to rehash some last-year-drama: Let's all remember that Moira called that ride to get rid of 'naked-boys-with-white-tennis-shoes-on' playing cards that were left over from her bachelorette thing, and that the park in question is a patch of dirt and trees on the side of the Duwamish where people go to shoot up and Boeing employees go a-cruisin'

Point83: helping keep your swampy cruising spot flush with dick pics since forever. We're a community oriented club! Upstanding citizens!

wait, are you saying that there are people who would tell us one thing to our faces, and then talk shit behind our backs?

IN THIS TOWN?

Sound like the sad, FAILING liberal media strikes again!

Although, in a more serious note, unless I'm crazy, it does appear that there are a fair number of angry exes that I've seen come and go through the years. I think that perhaps .83 needs to work on their Scout Rule of the Heart.

(please be sure to tell everyone you know to wear their colors).

Yes, I can give you their names in private. Man, ive got so much DIRT! Kidding.

I really could care less about the gossip, except I do consider it a good indicator of who I engage and spend my time with in the future ;-)

It sounds like you do know who I met. It just seems this particular person was doing a fine job trashing the club to me, a bro they met for 5 minutes, and I'm thinking they probably trash the club any other time it comes up. But hey, What's more Seattle than trashing something you've never actually tried yourself amirite!?

Anyway, slip and slide!!!!
