Next few days have a fair bit precip in the forecast, but the weekend’s looking pretty good, here and on the east side of the mountains.

I want to leave Saturday around 6 pm, drive somewhere 2+ hrs away, car camp, then wake up early Sunday and do a fairly long mtn bike ride.
Wanna come?

First choice: Mad River trail, Chiwawa River area, NE of Leavenworth... but is pending consulting rangers/internet on Friday re. how much snow has fallen (plan on at least some snow, will need booties or boots).
Haven't ridden this trail before but from what I hear it's not very beginner friendly; should have at least intermediate singletrack experience.

Second choice: SF Skokomish River trail.

Will look into other options too; and open to ideas.

Can take two more bikes/peeps in car.

I bet you could trade a six pack and nebulous promises for oncall coverage.

You're too late for that, there will be snow: http://bit.ly/2yk6cLT

and it is absolutely positively not somewhere you want to be in snow

That whole Entiat Summit area is terrific riding, but you have to get up to alpine elevations to make it worthwhile and connect different trails into a loop (perfect for actual bikepacking)

Thanks Fred, gah, I keep forgetting about that site. Have moved its bookmark to a folder where I'll see it more often, lol

Anyway yeah maybe it's a little too late in the season for Mad River. :-P

Backup plan? Torn between either Devils Gulch (as far as we can get up it before we find snow), plus the lower-elevation trails near it, Red Devil and Red Hill.... OR ... Lower SF Skokomish in the Olympics.

Monica and a few others rode Skokomish back in ... May, was it? And said had log after log after log over the trail... I read a more recent report though that said it was clear, for the first few miles at least.
