Bridle Trail (the trail, not the park) and Kirkland Watershed Park are both fun and completely do-able dirt on the types of bikes that most .83 folks ride these days. They are also close to the bridge.
There is a huge peace sign dug into the ground in Kirkland Watershed Park that is pretty awesome, but not quite a fire pit:

and just a few miles up the gravel trail is a 24 hour QFC (and my office building)
Kirkland is going to love us!

me! There is a Peddler Brewing clone brewery right along the kirkland connector. Bike focused, lots of bike parking.

this is a double edged sword for me as it means when i come to seattle to visit i can ride my bike to the ride from bellevue. it also means that then i have to ride my bike back to bellevue after the ride

As someone who commutes to the Eastside daily, fuck both of those routes. They're rarely on time, often jammed full of bikes well before Montlake and I'm willing to bet once the trail opens it will be just as fast (if not faster) to ride across as it will be to wait for them, esp. when you have to wait multiple coaches to get a spot on the bike rack. Outside of commuting hours it's more okay, but their frequency drops-off markedly and the late-night service on weekdays is nil.

None of that matters for PeteJr's ride home after too much .83.
I commute daily to/from the eastside as well.
