those seem rather silly... I don't see how they would keep one dry... I'd rather ride with an umbrella... :-)

I know I'm not up on the"Cool" bicycle gear that the messengers and friends wear, but I just don't understand how these are going to help me keep dry on my bike.
Henry, I sense you may have some experience with these. Could you explain?

well joby, the thing is, they are the only pants that you don't have to remove to allow a penis into your butt.

those would totally work! i ride with front and rear fenders. on a light rain day, it is only my quads that get wet. on heavy days, the water runs off my jacket and onto the quads so i think it maight still be of some benefit. i'm getting some in cow print gore-tec.

I agree, I think they would be great... I also personally think they look kind of rad.
The snappy slogan "No More Soaking Wet Trousers" is pretty fucking awesome too.

That, plus a rain jacket, plus fenders, plus booties for your shoes and you'd be one dry dude(tte).
they almost seem built like snowboarding pants. pretty lightweight though. super dry. roll up easy on the legs. elastic. the large is almost too small for me (36 inch waist) but gets on ok. they'll keep you totally dry though. ten bucks plus shipping. pretty cheap. the same person is always constantly selling 2 or 3 pairs online.

I've been watching those auctions. Let me know how they hold up once you've ridden them in the rain...

I was really just looking for the picture above of Joby wearing his chaps. But I thought I might also post that Wallbike is selling rain legs now, 55$
They don't give the same kind of coverage (lower instead of upper leg), but they're great on really wet days for keeping my feet and shins dry and mud-free. As for my thighs, well, I guess I've just learned to live with them being good and moist.

i find the banana guard (also at wallbike) to be a far more dubious product.

the only way to truly simulate a deluge is to drink alot of beer and and have say, 30 guys stand around and piss on derrick for a couple hours straight. then we'll know if they work or not...

I've used garbage bags to the same effect when it is warm and rainy out. I like the idea of heavier material and real straps, instead of duct tape.
