hey, i have a friend who wants to try mountain biking. i got my bike in portland and then let me try a few rentals and then put my rental fees toward my final purchase.
anybody know a place here that might do something like that? or, what's the cheapest/best way to find a bike for a small friend to try? :)

Recycled Cycles rents the Kona Blast (hardtail w/100mm front suspension).
Their site does not list the range of sizes they carry, but having gone by there today, I saw 10+ of that model out front.

Compass outdoor adventures in North Bend demo's bikes. I bought a demo bike from them.

+1 for Compass if you're willing to rent closer to the trailhead.
Quality bikes. Quality mechanics. Quality services, too, if you need them (shuttle, guides, clinics, etc.)

My previously-owned-but-not-old Small 26+ Jamis Dragonslayer may be available to borrow/cheaply rent from my friend who is the new owner if that interests. Hit me up offline if so.
