OK, I reserved Manchester State Park's group site last fall for Wed 3 July to Thursday 4 July. It's already bought and paid for.
I think we'll shoot for a meetup at Uwajamaya or something, then roll over to the Fauntleroy Ferry.
For the record, I do *not* recommend riding to Bremerton via the highway the day after.
Ample parking at the group site! Tons of wide open grassy field to play on! Firepit already there, DEDICATED outhouses, and a ramada! Hell, there are even RV power hookups there if I remember correctly.
The route's a nice, almost perfectly flat, 20-ish miles - and that's including the leg from downtown seattle to the fauntleroy ferry. I think there's about 100 feet of "single track" gravel on the way. Everything else is paved.
OK, OFFICIAL SOLID TIMES AND STUFF.
1)Definitely meeting up at Uwajamaya at 4:30PM.
2)Leave Uwajamaya at 5:00PM
3)We've got an hour to get to fauntleroy. Shooting for the 6:15 ferry By Google Standards, we should be able to cover those 8 miles in 50 minutes, so we should have some extra time cushion since this isn't a race, but we're not takin' naps either.
Like I said, if you wanna drive, there's ample parking. Pizza can be delivered for those who order it. Firewood is cheap and they deliver THAT too at the campsite (well, they did last time).
Basically, it's an easy smooth ride with a water feature and a great time at the end.

I look forward to cheatering over again by taking the Vashon Water Taxi to the Southworth ferry. Probably won't go around the horn of West Seattle again on the way back to the city this time, but the West Seattle Water Taxi does run on Independence Day...

Oh, I was there.
Also, did I mention that when we were at Manchester Park last time, we were able to get pizza delivered to the CAMPSITE?!

FYI, if we can roll by a place that fills growlers on the way to Fauntleroy, that would be appreciated. I've got a couple that need fillin'.

the Grandparents pulled rank and pulled the kid back to Texas for Summer break early, so I might be able to go to this.

Just FYI, Avalon is under mad construction, so it may be advisable to take the Alki route to the ferry, but that is up to rider discretion. It has been reduced to 2 lanes with no turn or bike lane between the bridge and 35th. I have biked it but you gotta be a dick and just take up the whole lane cuz there isn't really room to pass. Probably about 5-8 minutes of holding up traffic with camping gear through there.

I have no problem being a dick when SDOT is to blame
But I'm still planning on cheatering and taking the Water Taxi straight to Vashon then transferring to the Southworth ferry. Looks like the 5:30 water taxi would accomplish a meet-up w/ the main group, if not the ferry before

not sure. If am reading the WSF ferry schedule right, it does appear as though there will be southworth/fauntleroy ferries on the 4th, so that's good. last time I did this, the last few miles into bremerton on the highway shoulder were dicey.

The Bartell drugstore at Jackson and 3rd sells growler fills, Joe. You can fill up on your way to (or from) Uwajimaya.

No Vashon Water Taxi service or Port Orchard foot ferry service on the 4th so you'll either have to ride to Southworth then back from Fauntleroy or take the sketchy, albeit short (max. 1 hr) ride to Bremerton and catch the ferry there. If you do opt for the highway route, do pay attention to the bike route signage where Hwy 16 merges into Hwy 3.

hmm.. how does the delridge >> genessee diversion work for circumventing the construction? Or is most of that road blockage on that block between genessee and 35th?

6:15 ferry? What a waste of a perfectly good Bon Jovi Thursday situation.
(apologies if you can't actually take off an hour or two before you normally would on a Wednesday)
Just like the last two years, does anyone else have any interest in taking an earlier ferry? I might aim for the 4:35 or 5:10 ferry from Fauntleroy. And I might aim for a pint at the Beveridge Place Pub beforehand.

Let's aim for the 4:35 ferry. It's a 7 minute bike ride to the ferry. Time for unlocking, buying a ferry ticket, etc... so say we'll leave the pub at 4:10. I'll probably show up to the pub around 3:15-3:30.
tl;dr: early crew aiming for the 4:35 ferry, leaving Beveridge Place Pub at 4:10, get there in time for a beer if you want.

Just be aware that the foot ferry from Port orchard will not be running on the Independence day so you'll have too ride around the Sinclair inlet

FYI, a few of us are heading to Green Mtn after Joetown for Thursday night camping. I've got to be back in Seattle at a decent hour Friday, so I'll be rolling out a bit early on the 5th.
Also, i talked to Kitsap harbour tours and they are running a foot ferry on the 4th between PO and Bremerton. Bikes allowed, plenty of room. $2 cash only. Boat leaves PO on every hour and half hour 10am - Midnight.

Looks like I've got a buddy from SF flying in for this recreational event. Any chance someone in the downtown/lightrail area has a basic bike they could loan for suds or other valuables? He's about 6'.
