there is more than a little in common between our hedonistic proclivities and teutonic sensibilities

BC:15 to the COVID-19. (pronounced bee cee one five to the cee oh vee eye dee one nine)

or, alternately, BC15 - Bendemic

You know, it is already a great Ben Country story, even if there never is a camping trip.

"I remember Ben Country 15. We were all wearing masks, staying six feet apart, and people fucking died. Good times."

So, I'm thinking June 20-21 would be a good date to put out there as the new goal. Of course if everything goes to hell we'll need to play it by ear, but I need to put a date up here so folks can bank on it.

Thoughts?

I guess it only matters for the destination, as long as we all enforce social distancing at the beginning

Mason County doesn't care, don't worry.

Yeah, i'm not in the least worried about the authorities. I'm more wondering about people's own internal wrestling.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think it's really hard to beat Shaddup Joe's "BCXV: The Bendemic," but why not:

fuck yes all the gravel and hills!!!!

Only concerning section is the power line ROW around mile 20 between E Tepee Ln and Sapphire Ct. Kale and I (and others but I can't remember who sorry) tried to ride that northbound in October 2018 and stopped here. The route in red below shows where we gave up and turned around. IIRC there were multiple of fences to portage over and the road surface could be described as railroad ballast at best.

Thanks for the heads up. Route is updated.
OR if we wanted to avoid the 2.5 miles of highway 3 we could ride along the water a ways and then cut up at trails ave to ride gravel.
Either and or.

Dear Ben, Sadly I have been told that if I go on this trip I will have to camp in a tent for two weeks in my back yard. Apparently, "phase II" means nothing for viruses.

Soooooo, I hate to say it, but I've got to reschedule BC.

Turns out that sunday is fathers's day (oops should have checked the holiday schedule), and with all of the protesting in the time of Covid Laura politely suggested that I not attend.

Thoughts?
I'm open to alternative/suggestions, but I can't really think of a good way of making this less irresponsible irresponsibility.

Aw, shucks, Ben. How 'bout we slot in Joeball Mountain as an appetizer on the evening of 7/2 to the morning of 7/3?

And yes, fuck 2020.

I Might, MAYBE will be allowed to go to Joeball if we're in Phase III by then. maybe.

as long as I'm OK with sleeping under the carport for two weeks.

Which I am rapidly coming around to.

If you still have this weekend off and free, and if weather looks good I'm going up to Snoqualmie Pass for some camping and fun times. Would love to have company. Kittitas County should be open at Stage 3 by then.

Figure a 0900-ish roll-out from Uwajimaya as is tradition but I'm open to alternatives

It's entertaining watching you take each step towards yes, but Joe.

I rode the "more gravel" route the other day on my way to Schafer State Park and can report back the following:

The gravel stretch from the golf course to E Trails Rd is fairly loose gravel. But after E Trails Rd to E Carson Lake Rd it becomes much more compact and rideable.

There is a gate around mile 31.8 on E Carson Lake Rd. It's not impossible to get around, but I had to lift my bike over the chain between the post and the gate. Not hard, but not as easy as the regular orange logging road gates you can easily slide under.
