And while I am ranting, would everyone please start using Gear Inches?

Agreed about the seat tube length, but what I want to know is what does the bottom half of that chart show? It looks as though the red (bad?) numbers correspond to gear ratios that are evenly divisible, or close to it--would cause the same links to hit the same teeth without a lot (or any) variation. Is that correct? If so why is it bad? Does the wear really become that uneven? If I spent enough time I could probably figure it out myself, but it's early, and I'm a lazy fuck.

The bottom half is skidpatch, or how many places on your tire will get worn out if you skid. Lower numbers (i.e. 1) are bad, unless you don't skid. Higher numbers, like 17, are good :)
