I know a guy selling 170s for $300. They hurt, but they make you strong I'm told.

I've not used them, but rode with someone who did. Man, he was a fuckin' beast. He dropped me like a rock while climbing with one leg hanging limply down. My impression was that they make you fast and fix your pedal stroke like a fixie never will. But yeah, probably not much fun.

Yeah, I rode with a guy up Eastlake once. He was a skinny little runt, but a BEAST! They make it so you have to pull your leg up on the upstroke. Just the opposite of a fixed. It was funny to watch him coast with both legs at the bottom of the pedal stroke.

My understanding is that they make you faster.

for 800 bones they better make you Lance Armstrong fast and strong. I am sure it helps, but can't we just train ourselves to pull up on the upstroke now that we know we aren't doing it right?

well... i'm sure lance has made more than $800 from riding bikes, but they ought at least make you as fast as denny.

the other way to become as fast as denny is to give him a bike and some kind of terrain that is dangerous to ride on. he will hurt himself and thus be slowed down.

but that way is only temporary.

I hope your hair grows back, that'd be an heinous spot for a bald patch.

Before consuming beer, while delivering it. I made a trip to the grocery store and had 24 rainiers in the backpack.

Gonna wear my helmet for even the shortest trips now...

I know somebody who bought a set of Power Cranks, and I thought he was kidding when he said they were $800. I tried these on a trainer during the bike expo, and it seemed like they would help you're pedal stroke, but I still can't believe the cost. All they have is a freewheel in each crank but they cost a little more than my entire bike.

you're = a contraction of the words "You" and "Are".
your = a single word indicating possession

Examples:

Due to attending an alternative school, you're unable to write.

Your writing skills are terrible, possibly because you attended an alternative school.

There was a huge discussion of these on the rb.tech newsgroup sometime last year. Everyone except the creator of them basically said "useless". They're a heavy expensive gimmick.

Cycling is generally a cardiovascular limited activity. Save the $800 dollars and go do intervals a couple times a week. It will be cheaper, it will make you faster, and it doesn't require any weird gear to be installed on your bike.

i.e. Ride a bike, ride a bike, ride a bike.

Give me your $800. I'll make sure you get a workout. I have way more creativity than you do energy.

power cranks rock. several teammate have them, they also sponsor the Mt. Baker Hill Climb. last year some dude raced on them, nuts. they really do help develope a good pedal stroke, if you use them long enough.

I wasn't trying to be rude, I just thought it was funny how often I've seen that mistake been corrected here, and I made it myself. The one that really bugs me is people mixing up "then" and "than", but I get by without mentioning it unless I'm proofreading a paper. Also, I think putting comas inside quotations looks really funny, but I think you are supposed to do so. Oh well.

edit: changed "supposed to" to "supposed to so"
edit 2: changed "supposed to so" to "supposed to do so"
