I'm looking around for a crankset for my new frame and have my eyes on a black 105 double. Any suggestions as to crank length? At the link below they have them at 170mm and 175. I'm just not sure which would suit me best.

well, the best formula i've seen for computing crank length is right here:

frankly, the difference between 170 and 175 is so minor (3%), i doubt most folks can tell.

I can definitely feel it when I switch from my shogun (170) to my stinky or polo bike (175). Mostly I just feel my knees coming up higher.

You should get 172.5 just to be different.

Crank lenght is not as important as you might think. I have that adjustable crankset (I rode last summer) on the size cycle at my shop. Feel free to come by and try out all the sizes 150mm to 185mm in 2.5mm increments

My buddy has a giant box of n.o.s. crank arms in various sizes he got them from a previous bike shop owner looking for spare cash [I got a set superbe pro arms out of it that where mint!].He took all the big money stuff out of it and would probably give you a couple of varying lengths to try.I think there where some sets of 105 in there. But not black.

I appreciate it, but I'm going with a theme on my new bike, and for once I'm trying to get nice matching gear instead of any POS that will mostly fit.
