So I'm riding with my wife the other day, when my rear wheel comes out and I crash hard. I'm always telling her to check her bike over before riding it, so - egg on my face. So I tighten up the skewer real tight, take off, and 10 minutes later crash hard in the middle of traffic. The rear wheel came out again, and I nearly get run over.
I just got this bike at the Seattle Swap Meet. It's all Campy, including Campy dropouts which I've never had before.
Is there a trick to keeping a wheel in a Campy dropout? Or should I just smack the skewer with a hammer?

Sounds like something is up. I take it the QR is locking up OK?
Other Ideas:
Check the QR to make sure it's not stripped.
Then the drop outs to make sure they aren't cracked or damaged.
Try the wheel in another bike.
Try the bike in a different wheel.

You should come ride with us, there are some mechanics that could take a look at it.
you shouldn't need to use a cheater bar to get the QR to hold.
is it the drive side that is coming out first?

I just moved from the Eastside (Issaquah) to Seattle - near Greenlake, so I'm planning on joining you guys after Critical Mass on Friday.
I couldn't really tell what side came out first - I was laying bleeding on the road with my feet still clipped in - so all I could see is that the wheel had seperated itself from the bike.
Of course, now I'm scared to ride the bike any real distance.
Anyway - to whoever shows up Friday night: see you then....

I'd be happy to poke it for you at the CM ride. Assuming you don't mind riding it. CM is super casual though, so the odds are you won't sprint or do anything to dislodge it.

Yeah, you should come out on a ride soon!
The axle might be a bit too long so the QR is clamping the end of the axle instead of the drop out or you could have a damaged QR spring. They get in the way sometimes.

I made it through CM without it coming out, then rode it from Greenlake to Tukwila and back with no probs, so I think it just needed a real cranking down.
Incidentally, I couldn't tell who was .83 during CM, except for Aaron on the tall bike (who installed disc brakes on my Marin a couple years ago). My wife got a serious kick out of riding on Aurora. She chatted up the cop that was following us - apparently he was real cool.
