Megan's best friend's new husband used to be a Wheelsmith and Team USA mechanic. He is moving with his corporate management job to Tejas and last night gave me a frame he built. Super nice; Ritchey Pro Logic AL, lots of high-end touches, Mavic bb and bare bare sad naked no paint ugly.
This bike probably won't roll until Spring '07, as I intend on pimping it out with Campy and a dedicated wheelset. This bike will never see rain.
Any advice as to paint? It needs to be eclectic, high-quality and cheap. With my current state of finances it won't see any of my money until Sept short of an unexpected windfall.

I want to powdercoat a frame too. It's cheaper if done in bulk. What color were you thinking?
I had my heart set on primer black, but I could be swayed. I also want to redo the paint/powdercoating on Jenn's and my Pelotons (yes, we have matching bikes, how cute). Stupid crappy paint...

ok - that bike sounds so nice. I'll check out the Raleigh tonight, but this sounds more interesting.
I've got a powdercoated fixed right now, but I'm really not that happy with the paint. I think you'd get a much nicer finish going to a small paint shop. I know a guy in vancouver who has one in his house that I've been meaning to send my frame to. If I ever get on that, I'll let you know - shouldn't be pricy.

I was thinking of something dark, blueish and pearlescent. Just as I wouldn't try to tell Derrick how to ass-rape Henry or design my webpage, I wouldn't be as hubristic as to tell a frame painter what would be the sexiest.
Speak up when you are ready to send it out, we could get a group order together with Gatorade and myself.

paul from magnolia's (dewalt? sp?) roomate was telling me that he used to work at a powder coating place in auburn/kent area, and if i ever needed anything to talk to him.. i think he could either get really good deals, or something, i was drunk and dont remember straight.
ask paul for his number maybe, local and worth checking out for price
