well, the knee's healing up but since i will have this permanent reminder there of my fool-ass wipeout and remembering that i often do dumb shit like ride down gravel roads and such, i'm going to put some bigger tires on my fixie. any recommendations for bigger tires? 700x30? weight's not really a concern, low rolling resistance and good cornering are though (no knobbies).

I hear the TServ in folding 700x30mm is a nice tyre. A friend has them on her fixed and likes them a ton.

I've heard farily good things about the TServ. Of course, I'm fond of yea old Marathon Pluses, but you might draw the line at that much extra weight.

I'm running these here in the 700x30 size, they look pretty fat. I have wide rims and the front won't clear my dual-pivot long reach brake caliper when it is totally open. The rear does just barely but that is becasue the old Kool-stop salmon brake shoe holders were different for some reason.
As for how I like them I can only say they are OK. They have "flat protection" but as luck would have it a sharp sliver of slate spited me on the first full ride i took them on. I had a slow leak from a glass shard another time. However the tire is much less cut up than the conti 3000, 700x28 after only a few months.
I hear praises of the panaracer pasela TG for tourings bikes, I imagin their T-serve and Urban max tires would be similar
It is really hard to beat Schwalbe. The have some magical powers. Pretty much all I sell now. Other tires are good, but Schwalbe are above all the rest like Continental was above everyone else in the late 80s and early 90s.
Amazing tires!

it sounds like alot of the tserv/pasela tires measure smaller irl than specced. so if i get the 700x35 they're about 700x32. that might be nice, but it also might be pushing my brake clearance.
hmm, might just have to hit up abr and pick up some new tires. plus i can finally get those k-rad's for the police bike so i can be cool like andre and btah.

I bet I can arrange to borrow the front wheel to test fit it if you want.

I have the Pasela TG (aramid bead) on the rear wheel of my Schwinn, and you can definitely feel these treads when you accelerate, though its never had a flat, and I can only inflate it to 70 psi on the steel rim without it popping off.[/url]

pj diddy and i each had these, too much tread for around town, felt real squirrly in the corners for both of us, like the when your tire pressure is too low, had to pump them up to a high psi still

there was a thread on r.b.t. about these and how folks were pumping them up to like 110 or 115psi even though they are rated for 80-something. not sure if that really resolved it or not. obviously i'd like to not have to sacrifice much of the smooth asphalt performance that i've got with the 23c's that are on there.

exactly, tried running them at 80 and it was awful, but then we had to get them up to 110 and they felt rock hard, they were also very skinny, closer to 25mm its seemed when labeled as 28
