There is an awesome band playing for free in the parking lot of Electric Heavyland tonight.
Friends Forever.
One of the best shows I've seen, saw them in a parking lot behind the Aftermath gallery w/my old girlfriend about two years ago. Must not be missed. On par with the awesomeness of the Lightning Bolt show that was out on the steet at the NO SPACE gallery a while back. (150 people drinking on the street, dancing on cars & climbing trees, 5 or 6 cop cars rolled up but let them finish)

ULTRA BOYS - 1st. Then- FRIENDS FOREVER

Thing is supposed to start at 6PM - so if it starts on "rock" time perhaps you all could make it part of your ride. I'm gonna get loaded & roll over there around 6ish, if anyone wants to know the score about what time shit goes down call my cell, 206 351-6595.

Friends Forever
(PARKING LOT ROCK) They say all the world's a stage, but for art-damaged noise punks Friends Forever, the tour van is the venue of choice. For the past seven years these Denver delinquents have been spreading a mix of DIY theatrics (smoke, jump ropes, sparklers) and dangerously dirgy blasts of bass, drums, and keyboard to parking lots around the country (they rarely play inside anything but their beat up Volkswagen). Expect brilliance. (Electric Heavyland, 252 NE 45th St, 545-2800. 6 pm, free, all ages.) JENNIFER MAERZ

The last time they rolled through town, two years ago, the members of Friends Forever were nearly obfuscated by their homemade display of fireworks, colored smoke bombs, and an oversized beanbag-like "Killball"—a flashy display of lowbrow punk-rock pyrotechnics and theatrics that eventually brought the cops to the Aftermath art gallery's back lot. This time, the Load Records act is returning to Seattle to turn indie record store Electric Heavyland's parking lot (252 NE 45th St) into a makeshift venue. Per the band's mantra of playing wherever they're able to park the old Volkswagen, the Denver trio will be sharing gravel with the Ultra Boys on Thursday, August 18, at 6:00 p.m. (it's a free show). Expect plenty of low-end metal riffs, crazy keyboard belligerence, and enough industrial noise to make a broken radiator sound like a purring kitty. Bassist Josh Taylor adds that's not all the band has in store: "The last year has brought some crazy changes for us. For starters, we have all passed on our roles in the band to new members so that none of the original dudes are in the band anymore," he writes via e-mail. "We have become three blonde women instead of three hairy, gross men." Wherever they end up on the gender spectrum, the band has been hard at work writing new material for a follow-up to 2003's Killball, which was loosely based on a conceptual sport involving PCP and the future of football.

I think Wenchell's Donuts is right there too...

Also, just so everyone knows there is a charity event going on at multiple resteraunts around town. .83's own Charles will be working at the Six Arms tonight as party of the event. ALL BEER PURCHASES GO TOWARDS A CHARITY DONATION! So we can partake in giving back to the community while the community gives us beer... Also worth looking into tonight.

six arms is open until 1am tonight.

any purchases of beer of food will be much appreciated by the kids. if you didn't know six arms is part of mcmenamins, which is huge in portland, and they brew all of their own beer.

more info here: http://pageahead.org/

my boss is going to columbia city in hopes of helping tutta bella raise more money than six arms (six arms always gives the most)... any help in drinking them under the table is much appreciated.

maybe see some of you there...

possible ride plan:

ride north out of westlake and up into wallingford via whichever way we want, see the free show because it sounds like a blast, and because it is free.

then, head south again (opposite way around lake that we came in from) and go to the six arms for as much food and beer as we can handle!?

it'll make a nice big round circle around lake union and we'll get two decent rides in, as well as a show and a pub for charity

all other plans will be considered, and the other plan promoters will be systematically shot dead and ass fucked by Brad post mortem.

no i mean seriously, that band sounds fun!

Yeah, c'mon Brad. Derrick usually does it, but we' thought we'd change it up a bit. Poor guy is getting tired of jumping on the ol' grenade.

Oooh.. I hope there are ex-girlfriends at the show.

I love uncomfortable stares that turn into drunken finger pointing. There will be much drinking.
