I just watched 2 seconds and thought it was actually not that bad. I'd recommend The Collective and Roam as perhaps better suited to keep people awake. I can probably procure a digital copy of The Collective in time.

Early warning: Jan 20-21 is the opening weekend for the Olympic Sculpture Park (at the north end of Alaskan Way and Broad). If the weather is at all good, I imagine biking north along the water might be challenging. Probably not Hempfest-challenging, but still...

So it's time to start rounding rollers & exercise bikes. Please PM me if you have either that I can borrow for the event. If you plan on attending, you can use your own & maybe share with others.
I'd like to get at least 20 total...

I'll also see if I can get Trask@RevolutionCycles to jump on this or maybe load a roller or 2 if he has 'em.
<<<EDIT>>>
cingular is out...fucking cheep bastards, they won't do squat...I could have even gotten in trouble for asking using a company comp!?!
I Dropped off flyers @ Revolution Cycles...and i'll be borrowing a trainer from him (if his fits the trike).

96.2056 Miles, ~80 checkpoints for the alley cat. You'll be finding the first 80ish words from my favorite book, as soon as I decide which book to use. "Call me Ishmael"?

Wednesday night at 5:30 PM is the time Dead Baby Dave said he would meet me at the Bat Cave to clean up the place. Langston, you will be there, Right? It would be cool if anyone else could show up and help clean up. (That is the Bat Cave rule, you clean the place up before your event, then then next person to use it does the same. Still, I know we will leave the place clean.)
Bring some cleaning supplies like soap, water (there is none) and rags. A bottle of 409 or something would be fine, just to clean off the tables, etc. There is a broom there.

Yes. I'll meet you there at 5:30, it's just a block from my office. We'll use the cleaning materials my work just "donated".

Free trainer post on craigslist if anyone can get there and snag it in time. I don't know if more are still needed or not.

coffee lined up. Thank you Starbucks and your $12 Joe To Go deals. We'll have coffee for 40 twice during the day, cups cream & sugar all provided.
Fruit & Veggies are a go as well, I'll probably be getting them from Rising Sun on Friday.
Cleaning party tomorrow! Beer & Safety for all who play.

Langston, is it 8:30-8:30 (like the flyer says) or 8-8 (like the website says)? I'm assuming 8-8, since I found that on a few websites and haven't actually seen a flyer.
Also, Aaron says the Bat Cave doesn't have water, but the FAQ promises a bathroom. I don't see (or perhaps, don't want to consider) how to reconcile these two statements.
Final logistical question: how early will someone be in the Bat Cave to let us in (not that I plan on getting there much more than 15 minutes beforehand)? And do you enter from 1st, Marion, the parking lot out back, or what?

Enter from Marion
Bathrooms... most of the day you'll be on a bike out on the roads and I hear the ocean has great dillutative qualities. I'll check tonight to see if The batcave has a bathroom, I don't remember from the last time I was there.
Check in is going to start at 8, and I'll kick things off and send people out for 9ish. I want to give people (like me) who tend to sleep during the ungodly weekend hours a chance to blearilly roll in. I'll be there by 7:30, so as to get the coffee from upstairs, unlock the facility and set some music thumpin'.

There are no bathrooms in the Bat Cave.
Later, when the Owl and Thistle opens, they let us use theirs.
TONIGHT WEDNESDAY THE 17TH 5:30 pm CLEAN UP AT THE BAT CAVE.

So from 2am - , there could be a problem. I guess the nearby ferry terminal must be open by 5:30am, since they have 6am sailings on Sunday.

If it's a serious issue after the bar closes, my work is a half-block away and has downstairs bathrooms.

I'd rather not expose my job to such a scene... not unless someone knows someone hiring.

So I imagine there are going to be way more of us than have rollers or than loaners will provide for... is there going to be a plan for rotating people out into the streets all night long in trading-off shifts, or what?

DVD update: I have Beijing Bicycle, and The Bicycle Thief is waiting to be picked up at my local library. I've also got a couple of '24 hour' DVDs that have been 'In Transit' for a few days (apparently the snow was too much for SPL), and might show up in time --- 24 Hour Party People, and the 2nd season of 24.
So, is anyone going to borrow/bring a projector, or should I just leave these at home?

Another question for Langston: You say on the website to bring a Snohomish County map, presumably for the alleycat. I've got two SnoCo maps, one from King County to the north side of Everett, the other from the north side of Everett to Skagit County.
Am I right in thinking I won't need the 2nd (more northern) one?

You fucks better be asleep, with high-calorie meals in your bellies. This is going to rock some shit. Even if you don't race, come by and help with the cost er I mean excess beer we'll have.
1st & Marion. It's going to be pretty quiet until the afternoon when people get back from the checkpoint race.

530am and i cut off for home. those kids are animals.
4 of them were still riding around town when i cut off. langston leading the way.. with daniel, miles, bob, and (shit can remember his name, langstons friend on a mtb).
last i saw them they were all red eyed, moving along still at a good clip, and looking for a 24 hour coffee place.
my money is on all 4 of them making it all the way.

I gave up after Renton at around 11:30pm, and cycled home from there. Let's just say that Langston severely underestimated how long it would take to do his alleycat (and overestimated the longevity of his spraypaint).
Anyway, I swung by the Bat Cave a little before 9am to pick up my stuff, and Miles, Daniel and Bob were doing figure eights indoors. Langston was out cold on a lounge chair, and Sean (? I still don't know everyone's name) was awake and hanging out.
Thanks to everyone, and Miles and Eric in particular for coming along on my first Lake Washington Loop (although I can't exactly recommend the route).
