I just came across this article in the Idaho Statesman. Apparently some guys decided Boise, ID was finally in a position to start up a bicycle courier service there. Kind of interesting.

I just found their bikes on FGG

Oh, by the way... That news article totally sucks. Back home some of us affectionately referred to the Idaho Statesman as the Idaho Klansman.

Actually, after some further thought on the matter I'm wondering just how successful they'll actually be. For those who don't know, Boise is a ver spread out town (talk about S-P-R-A-W-L) and is not a ver bike-friendly place (despite what you may read in that article). The city is designed for cars. Wide, multi-lane roads all through downtown and into the neighborhoods and roughly 75% or the population drives full-sized trucks or SUVs with little or no respect for anyone wishing to share the road. Not only that, but all of the major businesses are spread out well beyond the downtown area... I'll be interested to see how they hold up. Maybe they have night jobs.

Boise is nice and level for the most part . They'll be able to make good time stop to stop, if they don't get run over on the way.

My grandfather's old farm is now a mini mall, near the north end of the valley.

While probably not lucrative for the messengers finances, they may be pretty strong riders considering the distances. . .

I dunno, the gearing looks rather pussy on those bikes in the picture.. especially for a flat city. :\
