Aaron, your message is unclear. Are you telling us (bitches) to advocate? i.e. [Advocate, bitches!] Or, were you labeling the advocates as bitches? [Advocate(s) (are) bitches.]
If you brought your syntax by my shop, I'd recommend commas. Or we could fabricate a complete sentence for you. (or as you may like to call it, an ExtraFragment) If you go, give 'em hell, Aaron.

You got it wrong. Aaron is Advocating bitches (Yay for bitches), and he wants us to do the same.

Nah. You are completely ignoring imperatives.
The imperative does not usually have a subject, but we can use a noun or pronoun to make it clear who we are speaking to.
Examples:
Somebody answer the phone.
Nobody move.
Relax, everybody.
And,
Advocate bitches.

While writing up a snarky grammer lesson, I found some crazy glitch in this site. Try to write the name, Joby with an apostrophe "s." The code rearranges it and turns it into "Jobies." Either the code writers want more Jobies out there, or they want to stop him from ever possessing anything. Perhaps both...
Tests:
Joby's neon shirt
Joby's in California.
Candy's sugar content
Norway's folk traditions
Baby's first Christmas
Apperantly, it's just "Joby." Weird.

that's not a glitch. It's Derrick's weird sense of humor.

I-5 Colonnade progress update
We’re well on our way into prime trail building season folks… and that means that we’re pushing to go full throttle out at Colonnade. Everyone has been out riding and volunteer turnout has been slow over the past month but we’re hoping to change that and we’ve got a few things up our sleeves to help.
We plan on starting construction of the pump track in the next week or two. We just need to find a free source of up to 100 yards of clean dirt with some clay content. The boys from Fluidride have designed and are leading the construction of the pump track. We’ve got a monster Bobcat T300 on site now to make quick work of rough grading, staging materials and clearing brush.
Work on the novice area is moving along and for those who’ve been out recently I’m sure the wooden structures that are being built up have sparked some interest. We’re also making some good headway down at the main gathering area where we’ve started pouring the concrete for the footing.
Plans are in the works to do several corporate work parties out at Colonnade over the next couple of months. We are currently working with employees from Microsoft and Starbucks to help us organize work parties for their staff. These corporations also have employee matching and/or volunteer programs in place that greatly benefit local non profits. Your company might as well. To find out if your company has such a program available, check with your supervisor or HR representative. This would be a great way to help support the club’s projects and the local mountain bike scene.
Sign up for a work party!
For more information on Colonnade or to find out how you can help, contact the BBTC’s Volunteer Director Jon Kennedy at (206) 524-2900 or jon@bbtc.org.
What do I do if I get hit by a car? Can I get pulled over for not wearing a helmet? Is it legal to ride on the sidewalk? Is it legal to ride in the road? All of these questions and more will be discussed in our upcoming open forum style Know Your Rights as a Cyclist class.
We will address hot topics in bicycle safety, laws, and best practices – and we would love for you to join us! The last half hour of the class will be a group ride to practice what we’ve discussed… and because it’s fun!
The class will be held Saturday November 4th from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Douglass-Truth Library branch on 23rd and Yesler Way. Please let us know if you plan on attending by emailing class@thebikery.org so we know how many people to expect.

Sunday Bike Clinics
Garfield Community Center
Every Sunday 2-5pm
FREE! - You bring your bike and parts, we provide the tools and know-how
The Bikery wants to help people learn to maintain their own bicycles, but we presently do not have a home to get this work done. So, while we organize our quest to open up a permanent and accessible public space, we decided to take our workshop to the streets this summer and start reaching out with tools even though there is not yet a roof up over our heads.
The clinic is a place where anyone can work on their bike and get help from a volunteer mechanic. We began hosting the clinic outdoors in August of 2006, and starting November 26th we will be moving into the Garfield Community Center.
Taking tools to bikes to repair, restore, or recycle is fundamental to The Bikery, but we believe that sharing the knowledge of how to maintain a bicycle with others is one of the most powerful things we can do. Therefore, at our bike clinics-and in the forthcoming Bikery workspace-people do not leave their bikes to be repaired by another mechanic and then pay for. Instead, you do the work yourself, with a skilled person guiding those who want their help in what to do and how to do it.

Dear Critical Mass Riders,
My name is Martina Guttenberger, and I am a volunteer for the Sierra Club Seattle Group. And today, I would like to invite you to participate on our panel for the January screening in our monthly Green Film Series.
Just a month ago, the Hazel Wolf Environmental Film Networks (HWEFN) and 911 Media Arts Center started a monthly Green Film Series which is co-sponsored among others by the Sierra Club Seattle Group (see attached press release for the November kick-off event). The outline for these film evenings is the screening of two movies—a short film and a longer documentary—followed by discussing the subject’s local relevance with panel guests representing the topics in question.
For the January-5 showing the theme is going to be “Blueprint for a Bikeable City.” We feature two movies, a short film called “Easy Rollin’” and a one-hour documentary about the history of the Critical Mass movement in San Francisco which not only spread to Seattle but also established roots worldwide, called “(We Aren’t Blocking Traffic) We Are Traffic!”(more film info, see “Other websites of interest” below).
In the October-22 Seattle Times weekend supplement, I read about the Seattle’s Bicycle Master Plan and Seattle's Critical Mass movement. I would love to have one of your leaderless, loose grassroots movement on our panel, espescially as we are showing a film about YOU, to discuss Seattle’s current situation and what your movement envisions for Seattle in the future when it comes to cars, bikes, and pedestrians effectively sharing the city’s transportation network.
Other prospective panel members on my list to contact are:-
A city representative for the Seattle Bicycle Master Plan-
Cascade Bicycle Club- Bicycle Alliance of Washington-
Feet First-
Transportation Choices If you know of anybody else you would like to have on the panel, please feel free to let me know.
If you have any more questions, you may reach me via e-mail mguttenberger@msn.com or via phone (206) 547 0902
I am looking forward to your response,
Best regards,

Hey y'all,
I'm unfortunately going to be out of town this week. I'd really like to speak up at the Bicycle Master Plan meeting on Tuesday 12/5 in Ballard (Details)
As most of you know, I commute about half time by bike. My route takes me south from downtown, along Airport Way until it ends, then south on Interurban Ave S., then I hop on the Interurban bike path at 405, and continue on that to my destination, 212th and 76th in Kent. It's about a 16 mile ride.
I'd really like to hear why the bicycle master planners aren't doing anything about Airport way. It is easily wide enough to be restriped to include two bike lanes. I know this because, even though traffic is light heading south in the morning and north in the evenings, I regularly get buzzed by somebody who doesn't feel the need to move out of the right lane when they pass me at 45mph.
There is currently no shoulder (in fact, there is a 6" drop in some places), nonexistent lighting for much of its length, and it's the only direct way to head south from downtown.
I know Andre and Paul ride this route sometimes, so perhaps one of them could speak up in my absence.
What do you guys think?

I'll try to make it out there, Did you make it to the first one Denny? I'm not sure how much input makes a difference, I marked up all of the maps I found indicating they should do something about that route south of the airport frontage road. I have a feeling that changes for bikers only get made when there is a plan to make improvements for cars as well. ie since there won't be any paving done down there for a while. I'm not sure what gums up that improvement. On the surface it seems simple, add pavement and paint, but I wonder if there are right of way issues or it is just considered too low of bike volume. Hmm, wonder why, some people think I'm crazy when I ride that.

as regards airport way, i read the comments and the planning committee recommendations. apparently when I-5 is closed for construction they are going to route traffic onto airport way from I-90 south. after the I-5 construction project, they're going to repave airport way and the recommendation is that bicycle facilities are added at that point.
of course that is approximately a decade away by my reckoning. my understanding from reading the documents is that 1st ave s is intended to be the major southern arterial for cyclists. it's clear though that sodo/georgetown has been given the short end of the planning stick, and i'm guessing part of that is due to relatively low cyclist densities - as if that is going to continue as georgetown becomes more dense residentially over the next decade or two.
from what i've seen it appears that the input helps a lot, and a number of recommendations i saw highlighted and indicated at the first meeting were represented on the design documents. of course, they also may have already been planning those changes independently.

i wonder if they worked in the bridge over greenlake idea into the mix?
it's not easy when you have to go all the way around that lake to get to duck island.

somebody in the stranger comments suggested a four-way bridge over greenlake and a three-way bridge over lake union.
man a bridge over greenlake would be so sweet, the duck island would be just down the street from my house.

East Marginal needs to be removed from the "complete" checklist. The street is marked in grey or black indicating that bike facilities exist. E. M. is the worst bike lane. There is no bike lane going southbound and the northbound one is concave and usually one big mudpuddle. First Ave. S is not often an alternative because the streets shooting over to it are often blocked by trains.
I think Denny has a point that more people would ride Airport Way if it had bike lanes. Living in G-town and working in the Kent Vally or downtown is a pretty easy bike commute many people could/would easily do.

sorry, i didn't realize there was any confusion about what i was talking about. i don't give a rats ass about the actual island. it's the best damn bar in seattle that concerns me.
anyhow back on the topic of advocacy, i was at the bike shack yesterday and there were four or five bikes there that were being built up for the bikery. i guess the bikery is close to having a new space, and the hope is to have some bikes already built up and sold (or ready-to-sell) to help finance it.
not sure of any more details however.

The Bikery folks are just what Seattle needs. They are a breath of fresh air and good energy for the advocacy set. They are open minded, young and spirited. I like every single one of them I have met. They love bikes! This is in contrast to the current Cascade/Bicycle Alliance of Washington force that is very rigid and seems bent only on making laws to punish people and get multi-use trails built. Everyday bicycling is exploding here in Seattle. I see a bright future. (even with that damn helmet law thingy).
Bikery folks, look for me to support you whole heartedly and financially!
Lee, we need to move the Duck Island to Duck Island and build a bridge from your house to the island! The kegs of beer will stay cold in the lake!

Colonnade update: the pump track is underway
The wettest month in Seattle’s history ain’t got nothing on ya when you’re building a mountain bike skills park under the deck of a freeway. The inclement weather was no match for our brave and dedicated volunteers. The highlight was the new pump track construction. A fair sized group came to our work party on the 24th to help move dirt and begin work on the future pump track which will be ridable in mere weeks. Kudos to the boys from Fluidride for really moving on this one!
Starbucks and Seattle Works also came out to lend a hand in work parties this month putting in approximately 140 hours of volunteer work in just two days! This is hard work and if you think you have what it takes, look to December and January for work party opportunities that include a Microsoft group and a special Shimano sponsored work party month in January… details to come. For information about volunteering contact Jon Kennedy at 206-524-2900. Sign up for a work party
The perfect gift: a legacy for your loved one at Colonnade
With the Holidays upon us there is no better way to show your appreciation for someone than by giving them a permanent legacy in a new city park that is already receiving national acclaim. Not only will you be showing your love, you will help us reach our goal of fully funding Colonnade. Twelve inch engraved granite rocks are $200 for individuals and $300 for corporations. We already pledges for several dozen rocks - help us sell them out! Click here to sponsor a rock
Colonnade is paving the way for more skills parks
We collectively stuck our necks out on Colonnade - we knew it would be hard work to raise the funds, and we knew that this could be the hardest construction project we ever do. The good news is that we're making it work and the park is looking beautiful!
Why where we eager to take on such a hard project? Colonnade will open doors for other new parks right where you live. Future parks will be paid for by the public just like any swing set or ball field. Already, just by the numbers of volunteers who have come out and helped, we've demonstrated the demand for more mountain bike skills parks.
BBTC is working with public officials all over the region on ideas for new parks. We are currently talking with six communities about new parks, and two of these are very close to happening. In the coming year you will be hearing exciting announcements as we work toward our goal of building a skills park within riding distance of every community in our region. Colonnade has set the standard and has allowed these new ideas to be supported by public officials. Support Colonnade today.
BBTC welcomes three new Board Members
We welcome three new Board Members; Sylvia Leveque, Glenn Glover, and Ken Sorensen. They are replacing retiring Board Members Brian Jones and Roger Donahe. BBTC will miss Brian and Roger, but you will still see them both out on the trail as they are two of our most skilled trail builders and crew leaders. Brian has dedicated much of his time over the past six years to BBTC, five of which he served as President of BBTC. Brian is responsible for turning us into a professional organization, overseeing the launch of Colonnade, and is almost single handedly responsible for the impressive tread and drainage improvements at Tiger Mountain. Brian and Roger, we'll miss you guys!
To get to know the new Board Members you can read a little bit about each of them, as well as the incumbent Board Members who will continue to serve. Meet the BBTC Board of Directors.
Renew your membership and win
We're doing it again! Renew your membership or create a new BBTC membership between now and 12/26/06 and you will be entered into a drawing for a new pair of Fox Launch Knee/Shin Pads courtesy of the BBTC. Congrats to November's winner Mark Roughgarden. Click Here for Details.
BBTC Holiday Party this Saturday
The BBTC Holiday Party is Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 pm. We are pleased to announce that New Belgium Brewing will be taking care of the libations. It's a potluck so please do bring some food. We'll socialize for the first 2 hours then hear a little about BBTC accomplishments over the past year and plans for the next, followed by the White Elephant gift exchange. To participate in the gift exchange, bring a bike related gift with a value less than $10.
Location is at the old BBTC headquarters at Sand Point where we shared offices with Cascade Bicycle Club. Click here for more info and to sign up.

Maybe we can get them to engrave a cock on the .83 rock. Actually, looking at the page, the FAQ states:
Colonnade rocks FAQ wrote:
Question: Why can't I specify any message to go on the rock?
Seattle Parks and Recreational requirements and BBTC policy only allow names and memorials within the park. (examples...) Unfortunately, no other messages are permitted.
Also, the allowed text is 2 lines of 16 characters each. Text will be chiseled in all-uppercase characters.
My proposal:
.83 ROCK
POINT83.COM
I'll kick in $25 for a .83 rock, assuming it doesn't say something insufficiently stupid.
Also, in fake Sean Connery voice: "I'm cock of the rock, Trebek!"
