YAY! I'm so excited! I'm going to be slower than everyone else, so it will be nice to draft off you for 60 miles or so...

Hey, sorry guys, but I gotta bail on the ride tomorrow. I'm going up to Bellingham (driving!) to look at a boat. I was supposed to go on Wednesday, but work exploded on me and I had to reschedule. Just be glad I'm not gonna make you wake up at 6 ay-em.

On the plus side, it looks like if we go to Bellingham again I can take you guys sailing!

I still want to go but now have some conditionals;

my rear wheel is toast. I've called in a favor to try and borrow one for a few days, we'll see tonight if he comes through. Anyone else have a 9spd road wheel to loan? I'll use my own rubbers.

Tonight is the Fuck the Weekly wake at the Owl & Thistle, 8pm. I'm going to try and not get trashed, but we'll see.

Yeah, I'm gonna buy a sail boat. (Looking at it tomorrow, with 90% probability of putting down a deposit on it). The plan is to live on the thing, but I need to find moorage in Seattle. Luckily, the Bellingham slip is both cheap & transferable, so I'll just park it there for the time being. My house lease runs out after July, so I have time to find something. Anyone know any spots in Seattle where I can live on my 30' sailboat? In the mean time there will be a few weekends where I bike to Bellingham on Saturday, crash on the boat, sail Sunday, then train home. Sound like fun to anyone else?, 'cause it sounds pretty fuckin' sweet to me.

Our boat lives in Anacortes and sometimes on the north side of Guemes. I love Bellingham Bay. Gorgeous, dependably breezy and easily accessed.

Well I made it to seattle but I have had no luck with private messaging anyone about meeting the ride in the morning. I'm going to be in shoreline and I guess I'll either ride down to zoka's or ride out to meet the 7:55 ferry. I'm assuming that's what you guys are aiming for? Somebody please call me at 360-820-GOAT (4628) either soon tonight or in the morning.

Nope. We left at almost exactly 7:15am.

I just got home from the ride. 111 miles from my house to zoka, up to Port Townsend, Across to Whidbey Island, across the island to the mukilteo ferry, down (mostly 99 - which I swear to fucking god was asshole night), we all split up about 80th and aurora.

Great ride. Now I have to go take out my contacts ere I die

Three ferries, one surreal and harrowing floating bridge, a strangely attractive waitress, a cranky old ferryman, a dozen or so pints, and about a hundred miles of road a stone's toss from saltwater; it was a goddamn lovely day.

Just like bobhall's squad two weeks ago, each of the six (Dane, Andrew, Molly, Miles, Adam, and Remmington) who showed up at Zoka this morning turned out to be perfect companions, dispatching the what for the spandex warrior crowd is a significant distance with cheer and nonchalance. Seriously: getting a group together to ride used to be an exercise in begging, cajoling, encouraging, comforting, bribing, negotiating, even arguing. Getting seven people to stay happy and together for a hundred miles would have been unthinkable. You motherbitches, however, can just get on a bike and ride.

Yeah, it was pretty kickass. 12.5 hours total, 14.1 avg and 100.3 miles on my comp. I'll post some pics of the ride soon, including the cranky ferryman. It's too bad I didn't get any shots of the Wookie burger (or bridge, waitress, etc). I guess I was just too focused on eating the thing... :)

Yes, thank you Brandon for organizing such a great ride, and thank you everybody for making my first ride with you folks such an enjoyable one. Yeah, and whoever arranged that weather, thank you too (although it did start sprinkling on my ride home -- in February of all months!).

My favourite quote from a girl at a stoplight in Mukilteo:

Girl at stoplight: "Where are you guys riding to?"
Us: "Seattle"
Girl: "Oh my god, your [sic] riding all the way to Seattle!"
Us: laughter

I look forward to seeing pictures, not having a camera of my own, and I look forward to the next ride, although I might have a different seat by then...

That was awesome, since we had already been riding like, 80 miles or something at that point.

It was a great time kids! I'll post some pictures tonight. I'm impressed that we only had 2 flats, and that no one fell on the fog covered, metal grates, slick with rain and dew and water bridge of doom.
