I’m going to totally miss some stuff. But the others will fill you in. mass was a good size150 people? We rolled through down town for a while. The usual scene. We went up to Broadway. That’s were the cops started getting pushy, literally. I tried to cork and got a shove and was told to keep moving or go to jail. The group kinda freaked out, some speed up, others slowed down. Some without helmets rode on the sidewalk. They continued the shenanigans for a while. We rolled straight on Broadway, going down 10th a bike cop got ahead of us, like a block and a half, the other bike cop was in the middle of the pack so we took a rigthturn.hahahaaha that fucker got half way down the hill before he knew! We tried again by going up to volunteer park but there was a hill so most of the group just looped back around and down 10th again. We went across the university bridge. All over the u dist. And then up university. We saw a group riding on the burke. Someone asked where they were going. They said to the uphill sprints, WTF? The it was the downtown messengers, they got the date wrong. So we decided we’ll just have another competition then. We got beer and went to Collins. We played games and drank a ton. The fucking skids rocked. Someone will up load a pic for you, one leg, over the handle bar skids! Brad and I cut out to get get in a nap before the race. So I don’t know what happened the last hour or so. Green lake was ????. Joby2nd, ?matt3rd. ?some random guy was riding the wrong way, hear he almost took out Dan, then finished 4th. Trackstands, Dan got me when we went no hands, finished with a few no handed hops. Nice Dan! Then beths for food. The end

Well, it was a pretty tight pack as usual, but Colin had at least half a bike lead at the finish line. Daniel came in about 5th or so.

Yea, it went Colin, Joby, Matt (not to toot my own horn), Crazy Roy (?) who showed up halfway through the race (he said he got third, but you don't win shit for doing half a race!!! Not that you win shit for third...)

Chessa and another girl went Halvsies on the women's side of things, coming in at exactly the same time. I think the other girl was Crazy Ben's fiance, but no introductions were made.

It was an awesome race. Andre had a mini-bike with aero-bars, Aaron rocked the X-tra Cycle and Langston rode the chopper. We had a wreck 5 seconds in with Ben, Aaron and Andre piling up. The bars came off the mini-bike, Ben rallied to race with a rear disk break that was engaged the entire way around. The rest of us formed 2 packs, and tore around. I will complain that Joby's red light was totally a pain... its really distracting to see a red light right in front of you when it's pitch black. Anyway, the sprinklers were on full blast, I'm suprized more people didn't go down. I was soaked and cold, but the sprint to the end was awesome.

Then I went home. Heard some people went to Beth's, was that rocking? I was pooooooped. Good fucking times.

After Colins I headed to a yuppie bar with the messenger with the red hair. I'm shitty with names.

We walked in and sat at the bar. When we asked what they had in cheap beer the asshole replied nothing under 3.50. So we asked for expensive whiskey and he got uppity.

Then Nikki showed up. She's got a bike shop/repair shop in downtown. Apparently it's on the 4th floor of a building. I can't remember the address. Anyone else know?

The pinnacle of my evening was when I went down at the beginning of the Green Lake race due to some wayward, flying handlebars I'm told. Of course the alcohol may have helped. A group of people collapsed around me or possibly rode over me, not real sure... Long story short I went home scratched the hell up, slightly bruised, rear derailer bent and one "Bad Motherfucker" wallet missing from my pocket (which Derrick graciosly found and returned to me this afternoon). Helluva night.

I so very nearly ran the downer-cattle er I mean racers over with the chopper. The race was way scarier than last month, I got hit in the face with sprinklers repeatedly and couldn't see through my glasses for shit.

Much love goes out to Scott and Colin; scott for fixing Shine instead of socializing when she tried to commit hari-kari after Mass. Bent left rear drop-in, thrashed deraileur (got caught in spokes) broken rear brake cable and a really loose bottom bracket. Scott thy rewards are forthcoming.
Colin for letting me ride the chopper. I love that bike!

Ah, that's what that thing is called. Mine was bent too. I enjoyed those sprinklers, great for washing the blood of my enemies off... or my own as it were.

It was all fun and games until the casterbike came out. I managed to clip Joby's ankle (sorry!!!!), and it turns out his karma forcefield is very strong. Later, while trying to mount Dean's tallbike the second time (a few beers after my first successful ride), I don't even know how I fell, but I sprained my ankle pretty good. Immediate swelling, kaleidescope vision (that's why I was laying on the ground with my foot on the hydrant). Felt better and rode home, but I was worried because I've broken that ankle before. Not as bad as Abram's, but I've got 9 screws and plate still in there.

So, my awesome fiance took me to the U. hospital ER, where we enjoyed the waiting room from 1:30 to 4:00. X-rays show no fractures, thank god. But it's really swollen the fuck up.

After the hospital we went to Denny's at 7AM, I hadn't had any food since lunch on Friday, so that was great, then off to bed and here I am on the couch watching Point Break starring PATRICK SWAYZE!. I'll have to do some video editing, I got some rad footage last night at Colin's house. Kinda dark, but the Point83 crew was representin' for sure.

Anyway, here's the goods:

Ouch, Denny! That grapefruit isn't going to fit into your bike shoe.

God damn, Denny, Is that a horsecock on the right?

As for the crash at the beginning of the greenlake race. Rich that was me powersliding my Xtracycle into you and falling off my bike onto you. sorry! I had no time to react, you went down right in front of me. I jumped up asked if you were OK, and jammed to try to catch the pack. I had "unloaded" my Xtracycle. I took off the deck and bags and basket and anything else I could. Bitch was light then! The ride around was totally surreal. My headlight is pretty bright and wide so when I came upto the sprinklers, all I could see was a wall of misty white water with no idea which way the trail went on the other side. I liked everyone's red blinkers. They told me which way to go and gave me someting to aim for and catch. I caught Stewart (new West Seattle guy) and he says are you OK, meaning the pace, but I could not keep that 80 pound beast rolling that fast. Still the race went so fast! I have to miss next month because of Interbike. Such a good time! Being tired and drunk has never been so much fun!

I was a dirtjumping fiend in '97, and I had just learned to do toboggans. At the greenlake dirtjumps, I did a nice big one, probably 4' up over a 4' landing, but didn't catch the handlebar on the way down. Fell off the back and sat on my foot on the rock-hard red stuff they call dirt there. Hear "pop pop" and those were my bones :) But, no soft tissue damage, they put in some plates and screws and six weeks later I was riding my new STA which arrived the day after I broke my leg.

Pics from my BMX Days

The swelling is way down on my ankle today, so I'll probably take a spin on the roadbike with platforms just to get the circulation going again.

I might be able to give you a ride to the hospital on Wed, but I'm not sure if I'll be much help hoisting you from the car to the wheelchair.

I've got extra oxycodone if anyone needs it, I just take one a night to get to sleep now :)
