when I saw this on FGBG I figured that somebody really wanted to be a cross between me, Bob, and Greg (check the cranks). But I don't really think it works, I mean really Gold and Pink, WHY?

I don't think that's an S&S coupling (there's no matching one on the downtube, plus it's a little small). It might be a gold painted Keirin plastic bash guard (to keep you from denting your top tube with your drop bars in a crash).
