looking for a new road frame, considering a soma possibly a surley, ahearne ericson and vanilla are a little much at this point and the lead time is a little committal. I want something decent I can have shipped within a week. between 200-450$

the company is in sf, but the frames are not made in the us... hence why they are closer to your price range.
why do you want a new frame. how about new-to-you? i would save my money, buy a decent steal frame in your price range and save your money for a custom, local, forever frame. we are lucky to live on the coast with the majority of super awesome, custom, framebuilders.
right now i am digging on one-dude opperations which seem cheaper and more creative:
go drool next year at the north american handmade bike show. in portland!

A frame which costs between 200-450$ and can reach you within a week is not a custom frame. It is an in-stock Taiwanese made frame. i.e. IRO, Pake, Surly, On-One, Nashbar branded frames.

I saw a bunch of Framesets at American Cyclery in SF the other day. $200 to $400 were the prices. New to good quality used.

I should have been a little more clear that I am mostly inquiring about ride quality reports. I could get a new cannondale if I was all up on the made in the USA camp. If someone had an older ritchey frame for sale locally I would be first in line, but its unrealistic to be all about buying custom local frame builder if I want to ride this summer.
I know all about where the frames are made. Its ironic being picky about build location when 90% of bikes out there were originally welded in Asia. Big ups to you if you managed to save a decent older Italian lugged frame.
American Cyclery carries soma as well as other locally designed brands. I see a lot of pacers and cross checks out on rides in seattle. Someone has to have an review.

as for soma reviews... you should have just asked what people think of soma frames. tons of people have soma frames in sf, i might start there. or go to aaron's and talk to greg, he has/had one.
ps: as for extra 56 cm frames... they are all mine!! ;D

well I am not married to soma's they just a have a paint defect frame for cheap thats in my sights right now. I am open to other options in the price range I mentioned.
