Hey everyone. Got a mountain bike? Like riding it?
Come out to the Tapeworm Time Trial March 24th.
It's going to be a killer time. BBQ, drinks, and a great course set up for a ripping time. Rain or shine, hopefully rainy and muddy. We've got a gazebo to keep you dry.

sure both are up for grabs, but the 1x1 would probably be better for the tapeworm. plus the slayer is huge.

I like me the climbing gears, and I'll just slam the saddle on the Slayer. When are we going camping for your b-day?

of course cinco de mayo.
here's a map to where i had in mind.
the campground is called aldrich lake, and with any luck we'd be the only folks there.
fucking google maps won't save my route. it just freezes.
anyone have a fix for that?

how tall are you?
laura has a nice steel xtr mtb that could be loaned. i believe it's a 16.5"
it needs some looking at though, and i have no time to do that looking at.
also if you've never mountain biked before the tapeworm isn't the trail i would suggest starting on.
nevertheless.

I guess I don't need to ask if I should attempt this on my cross bike with no mountain bike handling skills. I could barely control the bike when riding through St. Ed's last year.

As the name suggests the tapeworm is pretty twisty, For local trails I would rank Tapeworm, St. Eds, then S. Seatac in order of decreasing twistiness. In part it depends on what. St. Eds has more log crossings I think but Tapeworm may have more exposed roots. Seems a shame to talk yourself out of it though if you are interested in doing it. People did the vibrator race on Vashon last year with fixed, brakeless, trackbikes with 23mm tires and toe clips. Like they say, run what ya brung. If you were at all interested give it a shot.

What about Aaron's secret island trails? That's some wicked riding.
This tapeworm thing sounds fun. I'd love it if we rounded up a crew and did atleast a monthly MTN bike ride.
I have a van that will hold mass bikes.

Yo, I'm going to this tapeworm thing tomorrow. I plan on leaving about 12:30 from greenlake. I have room for... let's say... two other big burly mountain bikes and their riders.
If you let me know far enough ahead, maybe I can pick you up too!
Call me, (two oh sex) - 2 tu 5 - six 4 four two !

I went out and hucked Discovery Park last night, riding the most technical stuff I could find in anticipation of this.
Miles is picking me up, but if anyone else is going down remember the Viafuct is closed this weekend.

That trail is so fun!
Makes me want to drive again.
Anyone want to carpool with me some Sunday AM soon? I would be willing to drive and pick anyone up from the general downtown-ish area.
It is a 20 minute drive there. I can haul 4 bikes and 4 people.

Hurrah for DFL! I came in at 1:10, a full 30 min later than the win. To my own credit, I did spend 15 minutes getting the front disk brake to open back up. It was overwhelmed with mud. I had a great time for my first mtb race. I've only ridden a few times before, once in Wenatchee and twice at St Eds in Kirkland. This was the most technically challenging trail I've done and I didn't eat shit too bad. The ladders were fun, and there were a series of good 2 foot drops that I wish I had known were there as I would have came into that section with more speed.
12 entries, 8 finishers. Winner came in at ~42min.

Maybe it is a good thing my front wheel slid into a troly track yesterday (on the way to a massage no less) and smashed my knees up. I think tapeworm would have left me in far worse conditions then bloody and bruised knees. Looks like it was a lot of fun though.
