I've been thinking about doing some Thursday afternoon riding on a semi-regular basis, to get some miles in. I'm supposed to be training for STP, but the weekends are pretty full up for the forseeable future, so a weekday seems best. If anyone wants to join me, that'd be great.
These rides would be mostly to put on miles, not to ride 5 miles then stop at a bar or coffeeshop for 2 hours. I'm happy to climb hills, but I'm not a hardass about going 18mph constantly; if I wanted to do that, I'd just get on the Burke-Gilman and head to Marymoor, repeat ad nauseum. I'm also a weather wimp, so if it's raining, I won't go. If it's threatening or drizzling, I'll just stay nearby and show everyone the 7 routes up View Ridge, or something.
I'm thinking we leave Red Square (UW) sometime between 2 and 3 pm, ride around for a few hours, then end up downtown between 5:30 and 6:30pm to prefunk and refuel before the regular Westlake Park ride. For now, 3 hours in the saddle is the target; that plus the Thursday night ride should get us around 50 miles for the day.
Currently, this Thursday (3/15) is looking good weatherwise, and I've already got the afternoon off, courtesy of a dentist appointment. I should be out of the chair and on my bike by 2:30. Is anyone with me? I've got the germ of a ride idea, but it requires some work on my part and you may not want to do it anyway; if it gets vetoed or I get lazy, I'll just head south on the Lake Washington Loop (counterclockwise), with the likelihood we bail at Mercer Island.

Can I give one of you a call Thursday afternoon? It all depends on if my 1:30 client shows up or not.

Are you implying, or are we to assume from your comment, that the BtAH has some Gender Identity issues?

I primarily work with chronically mentally ill adults. In .83 terms that would be schizos.

Okay, I did my homework. If it sounds good to everyone who shows up Thursday, we'll be vetting my "Permanent Alleycat". Remember, drinks for the first 3 folks to finish it.
No, I won't be leading anyone, unless I'm the only one who shows up. The object is to see if anyone besides myself can find the checkpoints.
Or, as I said, if this idea gets vetoed, we'll just do the south half of the Lake Washington Loop.

I'm not much the fan of this kind of thing. I prefer to just ride, so I think I'll bail on this one.

That's too bad, but I hope you have the time to come out some other Thursday.
(For that matter, I hope I have the time.)

Okay, I'm off to the dentist. I'll be back to my office for a small bit, but otherwise this is my last message. I'll try to hang out in Red Square from 2:20-2:30. Cell me at three-three-oh-four-nine-one-four if you need to.

Whee! That was wet.
No one else showed up, which meant I got to vet my alleycat all by my lonesome. To drag down my time, I also ran a few errands en route. It was drizzling most of the time, until it really started raining at the end. And then, I ate noodles.
Next Thursday I have to watch the kids, which means I would only be able to ride until 4:30, so I'll skip next week and see what the weather's like March 29.
