So I got a chance to ride the Big Dummy!

Nuvinci Hub, Big Apple tires, fun!

Rock solid frame compared to an Xtracycle. It climbs very solid. No noodle. I did not have a load but even compared to an empty Xtracycle is felt better. Geometery is similar to my Xtracycle (most MTB conversions).

Long geometric trail and big tires (pnumatic trail) make the bike unstable at low speed but very stable over 15 MPH. You cannot take your hands off the bars under that speed. The Bakfiets on the other had has very low trail and you cannot take ride no hands at any speed. The steering is not as affected by a load. It is actually quite stable and easy to steer even with an adult in the front.

All in all, I think moderate trail would be better for a longtail (rear cargo) and short trail is best for longjohn style (front cargo)
