holy fucking shit, there's an update below
yep, it's that time of the year again. we're going camping.
just want to get the brass tax laid down, to allow you kids as much time as possible. i know some of you read very slowly.
the infoamation:
meet up this saturday, may 5th @ 9:00am at uwajimaya to get any supplies you may need, have a cup of coffee, and load the fucking car.
then we ride to the ferry dock and board the 10:15am ferry to bremerton.
the total bicycle fair is $7.70 round trip, however bring cash because we'll be paying all as one. it's cheaper that way.
we will then ride. about 40 miles to the campsite, stopping midway for a lunch snack.
ie. bring or buy snacks at uwajimaya.
we stay the night and in the morning ride back.
it is true, once we get where we're going, i'll provide the chow.
however you need to provide your own booze, hallucinogens, psychedelics, hookers, bibles, snacks, and specific food if you want it.
if you want liquor, buy it the night before.
and please do. or i suppose we can stop on the way if absolutely necessary
the menu:
if you want something else bring it.
-chicken & beef & veggie kabobs
-pasta salad
-garlic mashed potatoes
-veggie chili for you goddamn vegans
-walnut, feta, cranberry, mixed greens salad
-veggie tray
-spinach dip
-dill dip
-hummus
-dumpster bread (need to pick up thursday or friday night)
-guacamole & salsa & chips
-oatmeal & fruit for b-fast
you need to bring:
-warm clothes, rain gear, gloves and hat
-sleeping bag
-your own silverware
-your own cup/bowl
-drinks, both with and without alcohol
-any snacks/lunch/b-fast/specific food you may want
-$7.70 in cash for ferry
-tent, or spot in tent
-water if you don't want to drink filtered lake water because you're a pussy.
and once again it will be supported by my better half, so if you want you don't have to haul your shit.
the rsvp list:
divided into cars and bikes
cars:
-laura
-lori
bikes:
-me
-you
-henry
-andre
-derrick
-evil mike
-mike od
-pj diddles
-langston
-alex
-lee
-jeff
-denny
-trevor
-rlotz
-adam
-pete
-andrew
-gato
-molly
-bobhall
-killer kali andrew
-tiffany
-seibold
-ritchie
-remington
-alyson
-miles
-claire and said friend
let me know if i missed anyone, anything, or if you would like a good square kick in the pants.

if anyone has a truck that they want to borrow her to haul all of your shit out there, that would be filthy.
Damn, this sounded great until the line about the truck. Can't people carry their own stuff? Do we need to involve cars in it?
I can loan a Burley cargo trailer to someone who wants to haul their own camping stuff. It's plenty big and has enough space for two people's stuff, you can take turns hauling it. I've done this before.
I hope to be there (with my gear in panniers).

It is a pretty nice compromise between the comforts of car camping and bike camping though. We did something similar last year. A let us carry comfort items like firewood and beer and more complex food than dehydrated stuff. One vehicle for ~12 people isn't to bad.

I have some spent motor oil, would you guys mind hauling it out to the woods and pouring it in a stream for me? I need to dispose of it discreetly.
Sorry, that was too easy.

you can carry your own shit if you like, but there will be a contingent of non bike people that will be driving. and the truck comment is because the last mile is unrideable on 23's.
the point is to not exclude people that that don't have cargo stuff, plus i will be catering the fucking thing so you kids decide between good hot meal or mre.
all i know is i won't be carrying the bubbling crockpot on my back.
about the tent issue:
if last year is any indicator the tent to inhabitant ratio will be 1:1, so come even if you don't have a tent. we'll work it out.
the only thing that i require you to bring is a fucking jacket and gloves.
and yes i'm talking to you sean and brandon.

It now occurs to me that have zero camping gear. The number of years that have passed since I last camped (as a boy scout, no less) is now greater than 10. I would like to remedy that, of course, but this doesn't solve my "no gear" problem.
Anybody not going on this trip that maybe has a sleep bag and pad I can borrow? I assume that'll be enough, provided that BtaH is correct in his 1:1 tent-to-person ration.
I have warm clothing and gloves.

I have a spare luxury pad you can borrow, and an extra tent if necessary.

i have one extra 2 man tent. and a couple extra nice mummy sleeping bags. just be nice to em all and you guys can use them. the tent doesnt have a rainfly, but i have a tarp that works well enough as a covering
you can use them on the condition that you zip the sleeping bags together and cuddle all night long.

who wants to start a "bring scotty camping with us" fund to get me to seattle and back?

So i'm in for this. My friend Quinton will also be riding with us.
The women who mooch off our big fancy paychecks will be coming as well, but likely by automobile. They can provide said automobile and thus can be a resource for carrying shit.

I'm 75% sure I'll be there. This is a great excuse to get a longer ride (than usual for me) in and do some camping. I'm pretty sure I've got all the gear I need. I may be a wuss though and throw it in someones car since none of it is particularly lightweight, nor do I have panniers for my rack.

pm me and i will get the shit updated.
don't assume i will remember you telling me on a ride.
i drink a lot, frequently, and repetitively.
i am going to rewrite the initial post soon to give some better details, maps, menus and perhaps naked pictures of myself at the camping spot.
and to re-emphasize the obvious, this shit is going to be the cat's meow.
fuck, i can't say me0w.
ah, the things i give up for aaron.
