Terry from the Church of Bicycle Jesus is organizing an office chair downhill on 4/20. I can't remember any other details right now, but I'll try to find out more...

Remember kids, a trip to the ER by ambulance runs ~$13,000 so have your health insurance all paid up!

If this were to happen, I'd try to a)borrow colin's big wheel or get a cheapo from KMart/Goodwill and install a 700c wheel & proper brakes. and wear a motorcycle helmet and full gloves. and get any overdue praying in before hand

srsly, a big wheel I'd do, not very far to fall and you can put your feet down. An office chair would need some low-rider hydraulics and sturdy casters before I'd consider it.
I'd be happy to stand by and watch everyone else face plant though. I'll even have my phone charged up to call 911.

Not strictly related to bigwheels, but the video link got me wanderin' the net and I laughed well and truly at this one AFTER I'd seen about a hundred motorcycle accident videos. Maybe it was the contrast.

re: office chair downhill, might i recommend getting "take me to harborview" tattoos somewhere on your body that is not going to get completely torn off by road rash?

i rode my fixie down that hill, FAST. Aaron and myself accedently found it on a sunday night ride threw frisco. it was awsome because it was one of my life goals to ride down it.

I don't know if Derrick's mom "moves" per se, but she certainly does get around.

Hmmm my Aeron looks fast ... and the names sounds fast. But i'm thinking I would die without some bigger tires. Maybe Herman Miller will design a racing version.

I have a hoopdy no-name brand chair. The casters look like they'd roll prett well, but there are fenders that are going get caught up on shit like gravel if ridden outside. This chair will not do as is. With some salvaged grocery cart wheels bolted to it, I'd be game.

yeah, the fenders also make it impossible to use your feet on the wheels ... not that you'd get all that much control from that in the first place.

I think modified office chairs, or even anything that rolls on casters are fair game. After all, Terry says my caster trike qualifies, and it's way more road-worthy than an office chair.
