So it's Tuesday and I hear there is a weekly ride from Red Square. I also hear the weather is gonna be nice which makes me think riding and BBQin on a beach. Any takers? Are there any grilling stations along Myrtle Edwards? Centrally located would be good for me, I may not be able to make it to UW to meet.

I'm out for the ride this evening but might try to swing by a BBQ on my way home. Can someone PM me a contact number so that I can find the park that you go to?

These look like picnic tables to me, semi isolated area and near a little beach along Myrtle Edwards
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=936188

I'll be happy to haul my Baby Webber-Q gas grill down via xtracycle.

I'm suggesting hotdogs and veggie dogs for sake of time and grill space.

If I can get confirmation from a few folk then I will bring the following and people can just kick in a few bucks:
Hot Dogs
Buns
Ketchup
Mustard
Grill/Gas

Additional Supplies that the organized Red Square group could provide would be
Veggie Alternatives
Additional toppings (sour kraut, onions?)
Plates
Forks
Chips
Beer

Can we plan on meeting there around 8:00pm?

two options, both hilly and comparatively central:

magnolia park or jose rizal?

the full list of picnic options is supposedly here, but i think that's only places with shelters.

the magnolia park is significantly the nicest of the three options, facility wise. We might want to not stay super late there at volume, as it is right in the middle of housing. Old, cranky, white-privileged housing.

So is the plan: ride, grill, ride some more? Or is it ride, grill, ride home?

My thoughts were the folks at UW could come over to Myrtle Edwards, getting a bit of riding in and picking up some supplies on the way but more or less heading straight for this grilling location. By meeting at 8:00 we could have enough light and enjoy some food and drinks then watch the sunset. Once my grill cools off I will probably head home and ya'll could keep riding and hit a bar or what ever. My better half will be out but is still recovering from her marathon and I'll be hauling a grill so that is my reason for suggesting said location but not making you all come out to West Seattle... unless you really want to.

i was at red square for 15 minutes before anybody else showed up. we ended up with a crew of 7ish heading over to myrtle edwards to meet the balls. i taught pj diddy the "shortcut" along ewing instead of over nickerson, yay for 700x50's. chilly grilly, but still nice, then a smaller group of us headed south, around the south end of cap hill and then up towards tt minor to meet the polo folks. we finally found them at the cave, watched some polo and caught up with crankbreaker and gregas. (who are both planning on comin' out thursday!)

good times!

Sounds cool. Sorry that I missed it, I was down in Georgetown getting dinner with a friend and was heading back up north late enough that I didn't think I'd make the grilling.

Next time...

I suppose the Webber Q offered a better grilling surface with its big cast iron grill plate but dang if that thing wasn't noisy on the trips to and fro. There are a few minor "bumps" on the Downtown-West Seattle route. I put a piece of cardboard in that helped a little but if I haul that thing again I'll need to carry the grill plate separate or something to keep a sound state of mind. I'm glad a few folks were able to make it out even if the clouds and wind kind of put a chill mood on the evening.

I rode to Woodinville to pick up some panniers found on CL instead.
See you kids Thursday if not before.
